After the first message was sent on the first successfully laid transatlantic telegram cable:
> "The next morning a grand salute of 100 guns resounded in New York City, the streets were decorated with flags, the bells of the churches were rung, and at night the city was illuminated. On September 1 there was a parade, followed by a evening torchlight procession and fireworks display, which caused a fire in the Town Hall."

How can i portforward all of my local ports to a ssh sever
the ssh -D 1080 -N -C username@server forwards only the port 1080, but i want to forward all ports over ssh

@yekanchi Are you sure you want to do this? If yes:
for ((iPort=1;iPort<=65535;iPort++)); do
    ssh -D $iPort -N -C username@server
done

@Fabby no he is not :=)

@Rinzwind I didn't verify his parameters...
... nor had a look at what the averse effects of transferring his local DNS to his ssh server (he might be enforcing TCP instead of UDP, ...)
So that's why the disclaimer...

well. you should always have a fallback :P so "all" ports is a bad idea anyways

Q: ubuntu 16.04 ssh-agent not starting on boot

ftbI am new to linux and I have a problem with ssh/ssh-agent. Where I work I need to authenticate my machine to GitLab by providing an appropriate ssh-key in the git-website. When I generate the ssh-key on the workstations and add it online everything works fine. But I also want to work on my own l...

@dessert: Re: Thanks for bringing up the issue! How about a simple "and later" at the end of the question title?

@DavidFoerster good idea, done

@dessert: I also made a copy of the package in my PPA for Cosmic.

@DavidFoerster you could improve your answer further by adding information about PDF Chain, your comment received many upvotes

@dessert: Done, but AU went into maintenance before I could submit the changes.

1:31 PM
We are currently offline for maintenance

Routine maintenance usually takes less than an hour. If this turns into an extended outage, we will tweet updates from @StackStatus or post details on the [status blog](http://stackstatus.net/).

@Fabby All SE sites is in Read only mode :P

Routine? Hah!
@Kulfy Yeah, yeah, I got it...

@Fabby Now its back

@DavidFoerster Hah! We have 2 wizards now.. CC@Rinzwind

@dessert you enlightened me about "whom" being the dative case... so why do I have to say "to whom does the illusion appear?"? Why do I need "to" if I already have dativeness?

it's also objective
and it's an indirect object

Accusative?

are you speaking about English or German?
my Googling says accusative is direct object
"hit me"

@Zanna I want your hat too... What did you do? Clean all queues until nothing was left to do?

that toilet paper is the wrong way
or is it?

2:50 PM
@TheWanderer you can say. I don't want to argue over bog roll

@Zanna :D :D :D

@Zanna y u ruin my fun
lol

oh sorry

@TheWanderer some people... don't use TP at all

well if I turn my head round it will be right
@JourneymanGeek evil stuff

2:53 PM
Exorzanna

it makes an exceptionally ugly hat

@Zanna we tend to prefer water

@JourneymanGeek yeahhhh

@JourneymanGeek The freehand circle hat is funny but a freehand cross would have been funnier!
;-)

@Zanna hah, or a bucket and dipper/
"mug"
those little butt showers weren't a thing when we renovated our place, so we just have a tap for filling a small bucket as needed
.... could someone tell me the correct word for those, even if the term I used is hilarious and wrong sounding?

2:57 PM
@JourneymanGeek Bidet?

our bathroom has an amazing device but when people visit they are like "wth is that?". But I personally think TP is actually necessary because of way we design our stupid bathrooms with a floor that has to stay dry etc

@Fabby yes!
@Zanna ah
asian toilets are designed for wet floors

yeahhh

also makes it easier to clean

I can't think of any justification for the way we design our bathrooms.

3:02 PM
@JourneymanGeek Have you ever used a Japanese toilet???

@Fabby nope

@JourneymanGeek Those are the most amazing toilets ever!

@Zanna actually the toilets in my apartment are rediculously huge

one house I lived in actually had carpet, I mean wall-to-wall carpet, in the the bathroom when I moved in... of course I removed it immediately

we could probably split them in 2 and still have enough space
wait what?

3:04 PM
@Zanna Carpet in the bathroom? Wow!
What were they thinking???

was it purple and shaggy?
@Fabby would be a great science experiment. Imagine the microbes

I think I would have remembered it being purple if it had been, but I do not remember. It was about 14 years ago I think

@JourneymanGeek It was probably brown and shaggy...
:D

that was my first major DIY effort hahaha

@Fabby eventually...

3:07 PM
@JourneymanGeek I suppose you wouldn't worry about microbes in the toilet:
>:-)

heh
naw, we're water snobs

well this hat certainly raised the level of conversation in here XD

:D :D

Roomie insists on water from home at the dog park

Europen toilet water is safer to drink than African tap water...

3:08 PM
unless its another dog's bowl

@TheWanderer lol

3:24 PM
@Zanna it's not an idle question - I need it for an edit summary

what

about the dative whom
what's the point of it if I have to write "to" "for" anyway?
never mind

3:40 PM
@Zanna well why do you need an article? “boy eats girl” is perfectly clear, what do two “the”s add? you’re right, “to” is… how do you say it? … gratuitous in your example.
language is not logical, it wouldn’t be beautiful if it were.

@dessert ok :)
I just wondered if there were any fun reason

WOW! askubuntu.com/questions/1102096/… You only have 16GB of RAM in your system and yet you have at least 20 tabs in Chromium open. I wonder where all the memory went........

I have only have 2 GB and I don't even know how many tabs I have... way too many

From that screen 44.6% of the RAM is used by Chromium having 33 tabs open.

How's England these days Zanna?

rubbish
freezing

6:32 PM
If you BREXIT will they still let you on Stack Exchange? :p
Sorry about Freezing, unusually warm in Edmonton, like above zero.

god knows, anything could happen
probably the Atlantic Ocean itself will be so depressed it'll rise up and swallow these miserable isles
not Ireland of course
or Wales
or Scotland
those places are awesome
@WinEunuuchs2Unix I guess I should complain less XD

@Zanna BREXIT is kind of novel. Europe has been doing business with each other for a thousand years. This is just politics where they fight over bigger bureaucracies. The United Kingdom itself as you now allude to will always be bigger trading partners with each other because of the connected land mass / narrow channel. Is there a bridge between Ireland and the rest of the UK yet?

nope

Oh well, I'll plant the seed if Ireland votes BREXIT, we'll build a big kick-ass bridge :)

@WinEunuuchs2Unix The UK has a point: the EU is undemocratic...

6:36 PM
Plus they can keep American Corporations at dirt cheap corporate tax rates.

No direct voting for the president, no referenda fur introducing new laws, ..

And we'll create a new currency called the "Euro Pound Sterling" just for Ireland ... hehee

Hel! Only the commission is allowed to introduce new laws: the parliament just votes on them.
@WinEunuuchs2Unix And they get their fishing grounds back.

So Brussels is sort of a Communist Polito Bureau thing like USSR used have?
@Fabby Yeah we'll have her Magesty's Royal Navy sink foreign shipping vessels!!!

>:-)

6:40 PM
And we'll make Scotland her own state if she votes BREXIT. We'll call the whole thing "United States of the United Kingdom" LOL
To get the Corbyn's Group on side we'll paint the North Sea oil rigs Green and call them Environmentally Friendly...heheh
We'll get a slogan to solicit Corbyn Supporters: "Trump builds walls, we're building bridges" :)
