9:01 PM
and back.

Great.

hey at least I didn't take my computer with me...
although I know you guys where there in spirit...

no we weren't

@KazWolfe okay so maybe you weren't....

@TheXed I wasn't there in spirit. But the LOKI array was keeping tabs on your location.
it's well aware of where every one of you are... >:D

9:09 PM
@ThomasWard does it have smell sensors?

high powered sensors from Orbit, able to pick out life signatures and isolate individuals separately from each other and target them directly.
zoom is pretty darned impressive too, I can see you have a piece of toilet paper stuck to your shoe.

Well then they probably abandoned the mission...it was pretty nasty....tacos does that to me...

lol

I love how I can turn on my desktop from anywhere in the world.

@NathanOsman WOL?

9:12 PM
I have a Pi always on and I can SSH in there and send a WoL packet.

or remote flying your drone until you manage to hit the power button?

@TheXed Yes, but only from within the network, hence the Pi.
@TheXed No - indoors? Baaaaaad idea.

@NathanOsman it would be awesome as hell though...

Besides, the drone uses a fair bit of power even when stationary.
(For the gimbal and wireless connection, etc.)

@NathanOsman I see...

9:16 PM
@TheXed did you ever see my sports video with the Frisbee and basketball?

@NathanOsman Yeah I did...
I think I subscribe to your channel...

@TheXed no
but it does know who you are :P

In that case, you've seen the latest one then.

@NathanOsman I am your only subscriber? there is no reason you shouldn't have more...

9:18 PM
No, I have 14 subscribers.

@NathanOsman how long ago have you posted it? I haven't checked in a while...

The last drone one was in October.

Ill watch it again just for the hell of it...
well one thing is clear, the guy in the gray can't catch...

Shhh.
That's my brother.

lol...
is track nations forever the free one?

9:23 PM
@NathanOsman wat

@TheXed Yes.
@Zacharee1 wat wat wat

hmmm...

wat

@NathanOsman maybe someday we should race...
if you ever get your router sorted...

Yeah. Or get back home.
My home router is boss.

9:24 PM
@NathanOsman what kind?

Ahh Java
package apcsjava;

public class DoorProblem {

	//it pained me to write this...make it shorter/simpler/better
	public static void main(String[] args) {
		int doorCount = 4;
		int never = 0;
        int always = 0;
		int[] doors = new int[doorCount];
		System.out.println("Using " + doorCount + " doors.");
		int runs = 100000;
        int selectedDoor;
        int prizeDoor;
        int j;
	    for (int k = 0; k < runs; k++) {
            for (int i = 0; i < doors.length; i++) {
				doors[i] = 0;
that ^
to:
package com.apcs;
public class Main {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
        int doorCount = 4, never = 0, runs = 1000000;
        for (int k = 0; k < runs; k++) if ((int)(Math.random()*doorCount) == (int)(Math.random()*doorCount)) never++;
        System.out.println("Using " + doorCount + " doors.\n" + "After " + runs + " runs, not switching succeeds " + (never*100.0/runs) + "% of the time.\n" + "After " + runs + " runs, switching succeeds " + (100 - (never*100/runs)) + "% of the time.");

that looks terribly optimized.

I have a nighthawk too...

@KazWolfe the point of this code was to make it shorter

9:25 PM
not that particular one...
but it is is pretty awesome...

and have fewer pointless bits

Pay no attention to the box that says 3.2 Gbps.
That's just the combined speed of all inputs and channels.

@NathanOsman yup mine is the same way...

:P
It does truly achieve gigabit on the ethernet ports though.
Full 1 Gbps.

wow

9:26 PM
i should probably eat.
afk

Yes. You should eat.

ew food
(lol)

@TheXed "coming soon"
???

@Zacharee1 what?

9:27 PM
welp
rip cv queue
@TheXed I clicked the Buy Now button and that's what it told me

@Zacharee1 where are you seeing that?

Maybe they are refreshing it...

"PriceSpider"

But that is the router I have...

Anyway, the performance is great. The UI is utter crap though.
I've never seen anything so ugly.

9:29 PM
@NathanOsman yeah it isn't anything to write home about...
but it is better then ubiquiti's UI

Why do people think saying "this is a general Linux problem" will make their questions on topic?? askubuntu.com/review/close/663474
@NathanOsman You should see D-Link

I used to have a D-Link.
But I flashed DD-WRT so I don't really remember the stock UI.

@TheXed the Ubiquitis I set up at my old school had really nice interfaces. Apps and everything too

@Zacharee1 how long ago? it has been a while since I have had to configure any...

@NathanOsman it's like Cisco, but combined with the intuitiveness of Netgear plus the style of Asus I think
@TheXed year or two
they were the Unifi models

9:30 PM
yeah it has been 3-4 years...

@NathanOsman that is, if I'm actually thinking about the right brand....

So it is possible that it has improved...

At least it isn't Belkin/Linksys though. You can't do a thing in those interfaces

@Zacharee1 that is what custom firmware is for.

@TheXed I don't think the Linksys EA6400 has any WRT

9:32 PM
probabbly not

I'm tossing around the idea of Cisco gear next time.

@NathanOsman yuck...
has been yuck ever sense linksys bought them out...

@NathanOsman get the enterprise stuff

Really?

@TheXed other way around smart one :p

9:34 PM
@Zacharee1 That's what I meant.

Cisco owned Linksys until 2013 when Belkin bought them

Okay here enterprise stuff isn't bad...

Oh Belkin bought them. Explains everything.

@Zacharee1 oh yeah I forgot about Belkin...

yep
that's why Linksys is so terrible now

9:34 PM
But Cisco makes good enterprise gear, I hear.

Cisco is still good, but it's only enterprise, so it's hard to find and costs a lot

if you can afford it, get enterprise gear.
so much less pain.

That's true about pretty much everything.

and if you go pre-2013 Linksys, you should be good too

But especially network gear.

9:35 PM
Sophos is half the price and jsut as good...
but we have all Cisco...

@TheXed I've never heard of them
and that's why you buy Cisco :p

cisco is like the TI of the networking world.

yup

My former boss was big on Cisco...so that is what I inherited...

except Cisco products are updated regularly
The TI-84+ is from 2004 and still costs like $90+

9:36 PM
That's because nobody wants them anymore.

well what do we want?

what, TIs? No. Everyone buys TIs.

Smartphones!

@Zacharee1 so is my wardrobe, but that doesn't mean it is better then yours...it just means I am getting fatter, faster then you :-P

Everyone only can buy TIs.

9:37 PM
@Zacharee1 Go to your local used PC shop.

@NathanOsman yes, I use my smartphone during tests

@KazWolfe I don't.

@Seth cause I have one of those

I can get Cisco routers for $35. Not the latest and greatest, but definitely enterprise grade.

Wait what?
I need to move south :P

9:38 PM
@NathanOsman You use...?

You guys also have waaaaay cheaper CoLo.

CoLo??

@NathanOsman we also have Trump for president elect...

@Seth For computation? A calculator app.

lel

9:38 PM
You buy a TI calculator. Why? Because you know how to use them. Why? Because they taught you how in school. Why? Because TI is the standard. Why? Because TI paid to be the standard for tests.

TIs are almost the only allowed graphing calculator allowed in most tests and college courses.

Coal Locomotive?

@TheXed Shhhh!

@NathanOsman can I use that for my SAT?

@Zacharee1 server colocation.

9:38 PM
wat

@Zacharee1 SATs are stupid.

@NathanOsman Not if you want to get into college.

College is stupid :P

@NathanOsman Well I still have to take it. And I certainly can't use my phone
@KazWolfe The SAT is still stupid, it's just required stupid
3

oh god...11 more days...

9:39 PM
wat

That's not to say the people there are stupid, BTW. Lest anyone take what I said out of context :P

Then I can't call him the president elect anymore...

@NathanOsman I first read that as SANs.

@TheXed Mr. President is the correct form of address IIRC.

@NathanOsman what's this "context" you speak of?

9:40 PM
Yeah, Nathan. I'm pretty sure my math teacher won't let me use Mathematica on a test.

@NathanOsman yes...I probably wouldn't live long if I addressed him the way I really want to...

I once had a book for studying for SATs. It was (you guessed it) stupid.
@KazWolfe That's .... stupid :D

The SATs are pretty stupid. But required by high level colleges and most universities.

@NathanOsman "Let's teach you everything to be ready for the SAT! (from last year)"

Does anyone here use their Ti-84 in real-world problem solving?

9:41 PM
@Seth there's supposed to be talk about phasing them out though
@NathanOsman no
but it's used throughout high school and college

@NathanOsman I use my N-Spire if I don't have Mathematica open.

@Zacharee1 yeah well I doubt they'll phase in anything better. But hey, maybe they'll surprise me.

This is the one time in history I wish our current preside would ignore the constituition and refuse to step down...
president*

@Seth I was under the impression they were just getting rid of standardized testing like that

@NathanOsman considering engineers probably have much more expensive tools.. no. but you can't use those expensive tools in engineering school, so.

9:42 PM
@KazWolfe Fair enough.

@TheXed the ultimate hypocrisy :p

(also, I paid $35 for my TI-83+, you can do it)

@Seth 84+ FTL

@Seth That's true. Although academic licenses are usually pretty cheap.

I just bought a Nspire and hacked it to be cheaty :D

9:43 PM
GASP

Yeah, the 84+ can act as a USB host.

and play pokemon.

Someone managed to get Android on their N-Spire.

i think someone did ubuntu too
not sure.

but why
@NathanOsman lel
ninja edits

9:44 PM
Lol.
But... there are way better Android devices out there for cheaper anyway.

why don't browsers have ctrl+h?

@NathanOsman are you talking about this? androidheadlines.com/2015/06/…

For doing what?

not ubuntu, but definitely linux kernel

@NathanOsman find and replace

9:44 PM
@Seth that's the one.
@Zacharee1 replace? Replace what?

@NathanOsman I know that guy personally. Actually one of my best friends.

@Seth 1.6 lol

Yup, that's how I found out about it :D

@NathanOsman text

why do people insist it is a good idea to use air compressors on computes?

9:45 PM
@Zacharee1 That's all that would fit xD

@NathanOsman oh haha

@Zacharee1 In a textbox?

10 hours ago, by Serg
Jeezus, someone put <br/> after each code line in their answer. Thank Unix gods for sed - I'd go nuts deleting every single one of them by hand
maybe SE could implement something? :p

Not too many people are inserting <br>

9:46 PM
it'd be nice for when people do the blockquote > for every line of a long piece of code

I don't see it as a widespread problem.
There was an effort at one point to auto-correct some basic problems with posts.
I started something a long time ago. Never finished it.

use Google's auto correct

That was back when I wrote my own JavaScript pre-processor.

o_O

@Zacharee1 No, for formatting.

9:47 PM
ah

From 2013.
THAT WAS FOUR YEARS AGO.

AAAAAHAHHHHHHH
Still closer to 3
