Also, the reason kill probably didn't work is because you missed the -9 flag. This sends SIGTERM.

Maybe it's already dead?

By mistake I have removed dpkg from my pc (ubuntu 16.04). When I am running apt commands, it was showing error : Could not exec dpkg! E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (100) Can anyone suggest me any solution to this. Thanks in advance !!!

or unplug any handsfree audio devices if you have any.

@Anwar Not exactly. You will specify an fmask and dmask when you mount it - which will set the permissions for all files and directories.

Example - I have a NAS with an ext4 filesystem. But it wouldn't be any different than an NTFS fileystem over SMB.
