I am planning to install Linux on an old 4 GB ram laptop which has an i5 processor. Since the specs are poor, I would much rather get some light weight variant. Would Ubuntu Mate be fine? Or are there some more lighter alternative? All I want is performance.
@AlwaysAvailable It is a slightly imperfect test but would you consider running Ubuntu from USB or DVD directly? This would give you a feel for the distro / variant on your hardware. Have a look here: ubuntu.com/tutorials/…
