Im sure this question has been asked before, but Is it safe to delete the "ubuntu" user in Ubuntu 22.04?
I searched, but due to the name of the user the search results have been lacking

@CaffeineAddiction why do yu have an "ubuntu" user? If you followed the default installer's procedure you should have had just one user with the username you specified. How did you install Ubuntu?

> How did you install Ubuntu?
It is how vultr.com provided the VM ... it was there by default

@ThomasWard If the time a question is posted is a reason for closing it, shouldn't there be a relevant closing/flagging reason? I don't think that no-repro is the right reason for closing such questions and it can be misleading too, both to OP and other users.
@CaffeineAddiction Oh, ok, that makes sense now.
Have you created another user with root privileges? If yes, I suppose that it's safe to delete the "ubuntu" one.

I nuked it already when I found it its the default user that your ssh-keys are assigned too when spinning up a new VM
yah, first thing I do when I build a new VM is make a non-root user for myself, setup ssh-keys and lock down /etc/ssh/sshd.conf

@BeastOfCaerbannog I don't disagree that some questions become no-repro after a certain amount of time though.
@CaffeineAddiction I guess you meant "root user". :)
@CaffeineAddiction So, great! You got your problem solved already!

no, i mean non-root ... but +sudo
@BeastOfCaerbannog yup

@CaffeineAddiction Oh, my bad. Oops...

@ThomasWard Thanks for reopening it BTW. I also edited the answer.

@BeastOfCaerbannog there used to be one. but we're limited to 5 custom reasons, so we're limited on what we can use. The "only relevant to a particular period of time" part of no-repro is still valid, but the actual reason could be adjusted to say "No repro or no longer relevant" - but that's semantics and takes a bit of time to update everything.
