Q: How to adjust tap-click strength on Synaptics?

fariasI was trying to adjust palm rejection on my Xubuntu laptop and I messed with those two commands synclient PalmMinWidth (set to 8) and PalmMinz (set to 100, then back to 200 as it didn't help me). It's fine, but now some touchpad taps (that work as left clicks) don't register anymore, I believe I ...

I've edited askubuntu.com/questions/1118832/… which was closed as primarily opinion-based. I feel it's a usability/accessibility issue and have edited the question to make that clear. Please vote to re-open if you agree. Thanks!

Q: FFT -> a simple algorithm to compute a derivative?

Al KapIt may be a wrong forum; if so give me a proper pointer. I use a lINUX SYSTEM (UBUNTU, 12.04) a standard FFT package (DFFTPACK for slatec -- sorry, I am a dinosaur -- based on gfortran now), and have used various simple algorithms for computing derivative based on FFT. However all of them give me...

Q: Ubuntu / XFCE: Nautilus not opening files

os1I recently had my office PC upgraded from ubuntu 14.04 to 18.04, with the XFCE interface (v4.12) installed. I dislike the standard file browser (thunar) so used one of the answers to this thread to change to nautilus. That worked and nautilus opens now when I double click on a folder. However, n...

OK, where do I request a bot to be added to chat ? I need a reminder bot to ping me about revisiting posts
Seriously, SO needs a "remind me about this thing in x hours" feature somewhere. Or am I supposed to write one myself ?
Nevermind the fact that I've no clue about javascript

@SergiyKolodyazhnyy maybe a good question to ask the guys at Charcoal HQ where and how to.

Yeah, could try that. My initial reaction is always meta and tag the post with feature-request tag
Anyway, I need sleep

Q: Concurrent requests from node.js process are far too slow - is the OS limiting them

ed.I have a node.js script, it makes a http request to a url N number of times using two different techniques. First it does it serially, then it does it using the node.js Promise api (all the requests go off at nearly the same time and we wait for the responses back). If I run this script on my ma...

Not sure if you just want to rant or if you have an actual question. As it is right now your question is far from being able to have a professional discourse on it. Also writing in all cats means in general that you are shouting which is considered rude. So best if you really want your problem solved use the edit button to shape your question into a more meaningful manner. Please consider that all users on this side are not employees of Canonical or otherwise are paid, They are users as you are which spend time of their day to help others. Thank you. — Videonauth 29 secs ago

I think for questions like these askubuntu.com/q/1120244/231142 we need to have a "Because" tag or answer button. :)

@dessert I know, and so is vi.
emacs on the other hand has to be installed after installation.

Wow, this guy’s U&L profile puzzles me: He has 27k rep, but only 16 answers, none of which has a vote score higher than 3. On the other hand he has 1,331 questions, the most upvoted one with a score of 487. How do you come up with so many questions (and some really good ones!) and yet have so few answers? (I don’t want to judge, I’m just wondering.)

I am thinking it has something to do with longevity.
