Q: Where are suspension policies published for independent verification?

tudorI'm a big fan of demonstrating good behaviour and avoiding getting a suspension. I have never received a suspension on any SE site*. However, this puts myself and those similar to me at a disadvantage because it means that only those who have experienced a suspension know the actual outcome and...

Q: find command cannot find my files which do exist

CodyChanOne weird situation occurs to me that find command cannot find some files but can find another, and they all exist in the local path. I'll show you the image here: Note that ~/.config/fish directory is a symlink to ~/Dotfiles.d/fish/.config/fish which is managed by stow tool FYI: Ubuntu 16...

I feel misunderstood there. oO

ah, it’s clear now: echo "$a" | grep spawns an additional process with a here string <<<"$a" grep bash creates a temp file to which it copies the variable content, no wonder that’s not as fast
so <<<"$a" grep is a short way of doing printf '%s\n' "$a" >tmp; <tmp grep

Q: 2-key Keybindings (e.g. alt-shift) override 3-key bindings (e.g. alt-shift-1). How can I fix that?

SteveIf I have a 3key binding (e.g. alt-shift-1) and 2-key binding (e.g. alt-shift), when I press alt-shift-1 it just does the alt-shift binding instead (and writes shift+1). Shorter bindings override longer ones, and I cannot find how to change it. If I change the alt-shift binding to something else ...

wow, who would have thought this question would be so well received on UL :>

@dessert Oh, that's a classic U&L question. It was well researched and you showed your work and it was asking about obscure details of shells and how they work. Perfect U&L stuff!

I see :)

Q: LibVLC Sample Code - SDL1.2 works, SDL2 doesn't (Video example included)

DomariusI'm trying to get the VLC sample code for SDL2 from this LibVLC page. I can get audio, but the window renders blank. But the SDL 1.2 sample works fine. Here's what I've discovered so far I am using the SDL 2.0 version linked here, the one halfway down the page I changed the 2 #include "SDL/..."...
