@Zanna this answer worked for me, but the problem is, it's my answer, i'm trying to find a duplicate from where I picked it up (the last part in the answer), so that I can mark my question as duplicate
@Zanna found it but it's not on askubuntu superuser.com/a/1200745/714344 , what should I do now? mark my question as duplicate of another question which has my answer under it :P
I am trying to overlay two files (merge them into one so they plat simultaneously).
The options for sox --combine are sequence, concatenate, mix, mix-power, merge, and multiply. I've looked at the docs here and it's not entirely evident which I should use. sequence and concatenate do work when t...
I'm trying to start a script after connecting to XRDP but, the script doesn't run. I've tried adding the script to /etc/xdg/autostart, ~/.config/autostart. When I place them here, it starts when I log in at the desktop itself but, it doesn't start when I log in via XRDP. Not sure why though.
also @UnitedKingdom is about to destroy themselves.
Good job Theresa. Let someone who actually is competent in the realm of technology make decisions.
@Zanna I'd highly recommend leaving that country immediately. If what people want to happen does happen, there will be no such thing as security at all.
If you want to understand internal implementations of #golang, free 10-day access for @goinggodotnet great course https://www.safaribooksonline.com/library/view/ultimate-go-programming/9780134757476/
well stay safe @Zanna. Not many places you can go to escape it really, but any western country but the UK should be safe for a few more years, I think. Can't say I'd recommend the US though.
@Zanna more meant of a joke, but yes. if you can't look up RSA equations online, I don't think they'd be happy about someone coming in with it in memory.
Let met start by emphasizing that i am a basic user, and not the sysop of the server in question. My unix-expertise is very limited. I was nevertheless asked to deal with the following problem:
We are running a server on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS "trusty".
Currently, we can only start it by switching to...

Hi any logic to write a shell script to go back up into the previous directory and it has 10 files like abc-1.0.1.rpm , xyz-3.2.1.rpm , a-bd-2.3.1.rpm etc.. with same pattern. I need the first name of it before the numeric starts(which can acts as a delimiter) i.e(-1.0.1)

I think I've found why the entry of linux bootloader gets removed from the boot menu after BIOS update. It only shows Windows OS manager but there is no entrr to boot linux. It has happened me twice right after I updated UEFI
The reason I've come up with is that UEFI update keeps entries of signed boot loaders and unsigned are removed from the boot menu
Grub is unsigned so it is removed and you have to reinstall it
Windows OS manager is signed so it remains there..Has anyone with dual boot PC ever faced this problem?
Hi @defalt ! :) yes, many users faced this problem ... and to some it up, the conclusion is : this is what Microsoft calls "We love Linux" ... hahaha :D
I read somewhere that ubuntu has their bootloader signed by Microsoft so it can boot in secure boot mode. I'm not sure if this problem is still faced by ubuntu users but kali linux users often face this. Maybe that's not the fault of Microsoft. UEFI secure boot policies are strict with unsigned boot loaders..Though I've to keep my secure boot disabled yet BIOS update still removes it
@NathanOsman dd is a double-edged sword. The good part is it does exactly what you tell it to do. The bad part is it does exactly what you tell it to do. :D
@KazWolfe: They've got a page on that, although for Linux it's not very clear. But I think various security mitigations etc and making filesystem access more minimal.
Unfortunately your distribution is no (official) flavour of Ubuntu and off topic here. You can ask questions about any Linux distribution over on Unix & Linux. There are also a StackExchange sites specifically for Debian and Raspberry Pi. — David FoersterJun 9 at 11:27
@DavidFoerster ask.debian.net is not a stack exchange site. just fyi
nothing wrong with promoting it, but it might be better to make it clear that it isn't affiliated with SE :)
