I wrote a compressing command in Ubuntu. However, the zip file produced also contain path folder leading to the target file in form of folder. I only need the target file alone in the zip file. This is the code I currently using.
zip -9pr /mnt/test/Raimi/temp/Testing.zip /home/tect/Loco/*txt

@Thijser then he has full access to the whole system ... hmmm ... don't you have a system backup image ? If you really have a virus, please restore it or reinstall Windows. You can't remove viruses completely, they write things to deeply hidden parts of the registry. :)
@Thijser install it as described here -> askubuntu.com/questions/676224/… it should work ! :) Important is that the service is enabled and running ... everything related is also described there.
Under my network, I have setup an Ubuntu Server 16.04, which I have deployed some web applications which are accessible in the browser from http://192.168.0.4/myapplication.
What, I want is to access myapplication in my local network only with a shorter url like http://srv/myapplication

@cl-netbox we shall see, format C , while true; do; reg.exe /add HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run/Startup/%RAND%=illegalhorseporn… and export homepage=www.illegalhorseporn.com , let' s see how that goes
I'm not sure if this is a bug, or recent change to SE, but I am able to view a deleted question (my rep is only 4.7k): http://meta.askubuntu.com/questions/14971/feature-request-video-upload
Disclaimer: The answer on that question is mine. But even so, this didn't used to be a reason for us to se...
Why aren't there a "looking for a job" section in Askubuntu like other Stack Exchange sites ( stackoverflow , server fault .. )
I think it will be cool to show stack Overflow linux/ubuntu Careers ads.
Yeah, but could he do son last month as well? I dunno if this is new or not, although I suspect you could always see deleted questions you've answered if you have the URL.
@cl-netbox again - nothing specifically that I have seen. Ubuntu does need testers though to iron out those last minute issues with the graphics stack.
@cl-netbox its waiting an ack, as of this morning. Once the ok has been given it should land very soon - its just missed out on the beta2 ISOs. Hopefully as an update soon after.
@fossfreedom no no no ... in that short time frame, right out of nowhere you pushed a complete new distro to a stable official release ... hats off ! :)
:) yeah - late start - dailies only started in January - basically had to integrate everything from scratch. Haven't got much hair left ... :P
mind you ... for late starters - the Ubuntu Kylin crowd have only just got their new 17.04 desktop environment (UKUI) agreed today. They are going to be busy bees for the next 3 weeks!
@fossfreedom hahaha ... not much hair left ... nice :D :D :D I wish you all the very best for a successful release ! :) By the way, isn't Ikey a bit jealous ? :) You may overtake solus in usage rate soon ... :)
@fossfreedom nice ... this is something I appreciate very much ... collaboration instead of fighting each other ... goes absolutely into the right direction ! :)
@fossfreedom Although I am using original ubuntu, I think the other flavors contribute a lot of important work for the general rise of acceptance and adoption of linux desktop systems ! :)
absolutely - Ubuntu GNOME especially given that they have been tracking GTK+3.24 so closely this time around - alot of credit should be given to them for making the latest apps stable and available to all.
So i downloaded ubuntu 12.0.4 off osboxes.org. I then created 1 image then cloned it for virtual box. How do I test arp cache poisoning if both images have the same ip address and default gateway? Both virtual machines have different mac addresses.
May I ask what am I doing wrong? I want 1 virtu...

Everyone must learn some valuable lessons: 1. NEVER send any sensitive data over HTTP. Ever. 2. NEVER concatenate strings to form an SQL query. Ever. 3. NEVER brag that your site is secure unless you are a large team of veteran security analysts.
I also feel relatively confident with my site's setup due to how it's configured and locked down, but no. I'm not going to go around saying my security system is impenetrable.
@KazWolfe How do you define IoT then? I am very far from any sort of expert on the matter. To me it's a blanket term for any non-computery device that has an internet connection. You seem to be using a better defined term.

I just think we're moving waaaaay too fast on this. The potential for abuse is enormous and they seem to have sort of ignored the whole security issue.
For example, multicast. I often send insecure messages across my entire network to my servers. (Therefore, I don't need to open up a TLS connection with each box)
For example, Seth, I post software update binaries to updates.somesite.internal (say version 1.2.3) and then I just send a multicast to all my servers saying basically "new software update, version 1.2.3, hash blahblah". Then the servers all download from updates.somesite.internal/update-1.2.3.xrf over TLS and then extract/install/restart/whatevs.
@KazWolfe yeah, I know what you're saying. It's not critical, so it'd work. Although software version information can be something you really don't want leaking all over your network.
Correct, overhead is negligible. Unless you are on a private network transferring massive amounts of data, TLS just makes sense.
(Example: NitroShare supports TLS over private networks, but it is disabled by default since it can affect transfer speeds. We're talking gigabit connections here.)
