10:00 PM
That burn:
Friend: can you turn up the heat a bit? Me: *fires up Eclipse*

wat

is Eclipse a resource hog?

It helps keep PCs nice and toasty.

more than Android Studio?

10:01 PM
They're pretty close.

Spring Tools Studio FTW

what about at the same time?

Goodbye, mprime... :P
The next joke would have involved replacing memtest with Chrome.

AGH
ITS STILL UPDATING

Windows Update?

10:05 PM
yes
and it keeps having to reboot

Slow, i'nt it?

which takes forever

"Your password expires today."
Wait, wat?

wat

That's what Windows just told me.

10:06 PM
lol
are you on a domain?

Nope.
Just Win2012 R2 in a VM.

check the Server Manager

But I figured out how to disable password expiration.

nvm then

@NathanOsman or you could just run Firefox and Chrome with 20 tabs each >:)

10:09 PM
@Seth I doubt even 16 GB of RAM is enough for that.
Did you know that my Chrome extensions (which aren't even doing anything right now) are eating up over 200 MB of RAM?
Postman Interceptor alone is eating up nearly 100 MB.
That's just crazy.

lol

I've got about 30 tabs, ~5 extensions. 3GB of RAM.

Even at gigabit speed with multiple transfers, NitroShare manages to stay under 20 MB.
Granted a browser is a little bit of a different beast. But still.

I think Chrome takes up so much RAM by design
since everything is put into its own process

Bad design.
Yeah, that really doesn't work very well.

10:13 PM
well if one tab crashes, it doesn't bring the whole browser down with it

And now Firefox is doing it.
I wish there was a "I accept that stuff will crash" button that would just disable everything.
I'd run the browser in a lightweight container to sandbox it.
And then things would (hopefully) be reasonable again.
All of that is to say:

I'm pretty sure Chrome has something under chrome://config
"Get the most of Internet Explorer with Internet Explorer 9"
lol
what is the most of IE?

Don't ever ask me why I think desktop apps are still superior to web apps when Gmail's tab is eating 300 MB of RAM vs. nearly half of that for entire Thunderbird.

heheh

And even Thunderbird is heavily bloated.
100 MB for an email app is reasonable.

10:17 PM
why do I need to reboot to update IE??
wat

because windows

Conspiracy theory #157 — Chrome colludes with memory manufacturers to sell more units.
Discuss.
:)

lol

Okay, we'll accept "lol" as a valid response to Chrome's memory usage.

@nathanosman_dev Rule of Acquisition #157: You are surrounded by opportunities; you just have to know where to look. #fits

10:24 PM
Lol.

I like how you picked a random number for this and the corresponding rule fit it xD

@Zacharee1 new "ONI" video is up :D

@Seth Conspiracy theory #158 — maybe I didn't pick it randomly :D

@NathanOsman :O:D

10:44 PM
@Serg Sorry man, been extremely busy lately.
Mon-Tue I worked for 40h straight...
Personal record broken!
Are the chat-emoticons ready??? :)

@Fabby hey, welcome back :)
well, the clipboard manager is ready, you can use that

@NathanOsman Sorry man, been really busy. Do you still need my gmail or is it open now?

user136984
@Serg: You're blue? God, this is going to get rather confusing with all these solid colours around... :D

@Fabby No worries. Lemme quickly check for you.

user136984
Anyway, goodnight! :)

10:50 PM
@Serg Woohoo!!! Where?where?

user136984
@Fabby: Pumpkin! ;P

@Fabby Nope. I'll add your gmail quickly and send off the invite.

All in my PPA
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:1047481448-2/sergkolo
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install indicator-bulletin

@cl-netbox :D

10:52 PM
@Fabby Invite sent.

I will be adding more features to it later , probably this week. But for now the indicator is pretty stable and I abuse it for the purpose of emoticons , hehe
Also . . . Anybody wanna follow me on Instagram ?
Will be strictly professional . . .with occasional food pictures

11:13 PM
@NathanOsman Thanks! Will look at it tomorrow!

Awesome.

11:32 PM
£9.60 for the Pi Zero W.
But that is not going to be easy to get here.

11:44 PM
@Serg I don't see one
oh
it's the stream
Is this the world's 3rd quietest Let's Play?
what happened to Thomas?
@NathanOsman do you have any HDD recommendations for RAID storage?

Afraid not.

darn

@Zacharee1 I use WD blues in my NAS IIRC

Don't have any RAID setups here.

@Downgoat what's the pricing?
@NathanOsman I jsut need something reliable and not too Apple-priced

11:47 PM
Blues are comparatively cheap.
I have one in my desktop IIRC.

@Zacharee1 $50/1TB

o_O

I got a 3TB one for ~$100 IIRC

now should I do 1TB or 2TB?

Scratch that. Mine is green.

11:48 PM
@Downgoat well I need to get four for the equivalent of 2

And yes. Always get 2 TB.

That's expensive
so 2TB 5400RPM > 1TB 7200RPM

$100 for 2 TB?

wait nevermind they are reds

@NathanOsman it says $200 here

11:49 PM
@NathanOsman your link is $191 for 2TB

Oh oops.
Wrong store.

That's more like it.
5400 RPM though?

that's what I was asking about
the 1TB is 7200

Ah. Depends on your needs.

11:52 PM
I don't exactly know my needs :p

I have an SSD in mine for the OS and whatnot. The mechanical disk is for other data.

this is exclusively storage
these PowerEdge servers have 4 extra slots each for SATA

I need a small amount of fast storage and a large amount of not-so-fast storage.

6 slots total, but two are for the OS :p
$200 for 2TB... hmm
If these are basically going to be for a NAS, do I really need 7200RPM?

@ParanoidPanda yes, im blue, dabu dee dabu daa, dabu dee dabu daa, dabu dee dabuda

11:55 PM
@Serg tsk

@Zacharee1 its the punny hour

11:57 PM
Happy St. Patty's Day, BTW.

"To celebrate, Microsoft replaced their bluescreen-of-death with a green screen."

lol

Completely saturated green is bright.

11:58 PM
