Ah okay

@onebree they've expanded, so it's supposed to be great at my mom's and okay at my dad's
both of which are much better than VZW

Anonymous
we need vzw because verizon is everywhere in central NJ. Otherwise, we would go to sprint or tmo up north if we stayed there

and WiFi calling for more devices
@onebree what's your town?

Even though I hate the CEO, I would definitely go to tmobile if i could

OmidI have installed Ubuntu 14.04 GNU/Linux on a MacBook Air (mid 2012). I'm trying to use rtcwake to implement a "delayed hibernation from suspend", as in https://askubuntu.com/a/33192 (the particular use case is not important here). Q: Serve ASP.NET Webforms content on Ubuntu 16.04 from 2 different root directories using one XSP4 child process?

FrankWe would like to serve ASP.NET Webforms content on Ubuntu 16.04 from 2 different root directories using one XSP4 child process. In /etc/mono-server4, I created debian.webapp specifying root directory /var/www/firstaspnet and seconddebian.webapp specifying root directory /var/www/secondaspnet. ...

@onebree dafuq is with that video?

:30339584 here's the assignment:

Watch the two videos on nuclear war.

1. Which portrayal of nuclear war seems more realistic?
2. Do the videos seem to have a purpose? Or different purposes?

Anonymous
The first video shows the effect of nuclear bombs in a scientific way, but also a terrifying one. Several moments are filled with people's faces almost obsercing blasts

Answer to question 1: "Ask people from Hiroshima and Nagasaki you insert profanity here"

Anonymous
LMAO watch the second

@onebree Outsourcing work, I see.

@Videonauth I marked it as affects me too since I thing it's a good suggestion, but it also strikes me as unlikely they'll do anything about it. If you submit the code yourself, it's a lot more likely it might happen.

12:40 AM
They use brainwashing techniques there i see , images of old ladies in scarves flickering next to imagery of pumkin being lacerated by broken glass

@chaskes well it got moved to whish list by a canonical employee

I am not asking you all to do my homework

would take a bit work to submit that code myself

I think he means awesome in the classic sense.

@chaskes yeah well i might even have a look into the source code but i doubt i will be able to bring a satisfying patch

I know , it's probably not how modern teenagers will interpret it

@Serg awesome used to mean inducing awe, which meant fear
awful used to mean what awesome means now ;p

i closed the video, it somehow makes my head hurt and i am in a bit of sarcastic mood right now

12:43 AM
@onebree Of course, I was joking

@chaskes erm jokerdino pointed out the file a few days ago
i have to look in the transcript tho

@Videonauth If you find it, please share. :)
@Videonauth Jokerdino linked to 2 related questions, but not to the source itself. If I remember to look, I'll let you know.

No markdown support. Only WYSIWYG and HTML. But if you have ANY rich media link (youtube) it auto-embeds. But that is not reflected in the HTML in your post. They render it after the fact.

night everyone o/

Barometer ? As in an app ?

@Serg actual hardware sensor

@Serg @Zacharee1 yeah the sensor...

1:24 AM
not according to GSMArena @TheXed

Lemme test it with an app
If the hardware is there , the app will work

@Serg you have one?
It doesn't have a barometer

@Serg you have a one plus 2?

Yes, i haz oneplus 2

1:38 AM
just break your arm
heal it
break it again
heal it.
You'll have a built in barometer! :P

@Seth huh?

OH NO.
TypeError: cannot concatenate 'str' and 'NoneType' objects
Why is that a familiar error...

@NathanOsman what have you donE?

@Seth I independently managed to get the same exception on one of my own projects.

@NathanOsman That's the error UTT's setup.py had if you tried to install locally..

1:41 AM
Yup.

@NathanOsman haha, good for you :P

Want to guess why I'm getting the error...?

no

@NathanOsman because root isn't defined? :P

Good old setuptools...

1:42 AM
UTT isn't even using setuptools lol
we're still stuck on distutils

Hi

Oh?
I thought it was the other way around...

nope.

Drat.
Then I really have no idea where this error is coming from...

that's the entirety?

Whenever I close/open my laptop lid this pops up :(
I'm on xubuntu 16.04....

I tried LXDE and XFCE on my old system and realized Unity is as bad as Windows on old PCs

how old were these PCs? just curious

@Wally it isn't just old computers...Unity is just bad...

Really old. Zorin OS lite is like Blazing fast.

Unity is heavy

hm
@blade19899 did I confuse it with the windows netstat? ._.

8:18 AM
hello :)
i am using 16.04, wanted to copy and paste a few files, copy is working, but paste is greyed out

did i do something wrong ?

@BharadwajRaju what an edit
@hmmmbob you need to provide more details about what you did
@hmmmbob your question is unclear as it currently stands

installed cuda, wanted to copy some files into it, even when i tried to extract them directly, it says i dont have the permission to do so
i am sorry for that ed, i am a beginner

@hmmmbob yeah i saw your question
screenshots will help

8:30 AM
$sudo cp source dest
someone suggested that :)
maybe i try that
have been trying to install that software for 2 days, slowly losing my marbles

i am not sure what and where you are copying things

[ SmokeDetector ] Bad keyword in title, link at end of body, pattern-matching website in body: purchasing those pots of gigantic supplements? by Tanyibandi on askubuntu.com

try without sudo and let us know what the error messages, if any, are
sudo shouldn't be used indiscriminately

@hmmmbob who owns the destination folder?

i will try takes me a few minutes
because i have to type up the filename etc
i do not understand own in that context .. its on my machine.. but i am sure thats not what you wanted to ask

8:32 AM
at both your source and destination directories, type ls -l in the terminal

total 76
-r--r--r-- 1 stephan stephan 75330 Feb 8 16:59 cudnn.h
thats from where i want to copy

what about your destination directory

total 64
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Jun 13 19:41 bin
drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 4096 Jun 13 19:41 doc
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4096 Jun 13 19:41 extras
drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 4096 Jun 13 19:41 include
drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 4096 Jun 13 19:41 jre
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jun 13 19:41 lib
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Jun 13 19:41 lib64
drwxr-xr-x 8 root root 4096 Jun 13 19:41 libnsight
drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 4096 Jun 13 19:41 libnvvp
drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 4096 Jun 13 19:41 nvvm
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jun 13 19:41 pkgconfig

interesting, can you do pwd too?
i am curious where you installed cuda to

how ? :)

8:35 AM
type pwd in the terminal

/usr/local/cuda-7.5

ah ok
so you do need to use sudo with cp
reason is because your destination directory is owned by root

i know i dont wanna change the question and violate the rules
but what did i do wrong ?

instead of a user like stephan

i am really just a beginner with no clue :) no desire to annoy anyone

8:37 AM
i personally don't use the GUI to copy paste things, so i don't really know how to copy paste with sudo privileges

i come from windows or mac.. all i know is gui :)

but you can do the sudo cp thing as suggested in the comment to your question

ok i know i am pushing it here
but one thing that costs me a lot of time
i have a folder with a super long file name, maybe an installer file, i use "ls" and see the name , is there anyway to copy it .. instead of typing it up like a monkey ?

you can type the few letters and then press Tab
Tab does autocompletion
*first few letters
if autocompletion isn't unique, pressing Tab again gives you a shortlist of things that match
then you type more letters to narrow down to what you want

ahhh
you just saved me alot of time
thank you very much :)
i knew there had to be something

8:42 AM
no problem at all

all those command things seems more powerful but takes time to get the hang of it

you will get used to it in no time, i promise

@hmmmbob Also, if you ever need the GUI for copying/doing things to root-owned directories, run gksudo nautilus

9:13 AM
i might be close to a working thing :)
You also need to set the LD_LIBRARY_PATH and CUDA_HOME environment variables. Consider adding the commands below to your ~/.bash_profile. These assume your CUDA installation is in /usr/local/cuda:

export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/usr/local/cuda/lib64"
export CUDA_HOME=/usr/local/cuda
pressed control and h in my user folder.. but only find bashrc
only found profile
says that :
# ~/.profile: executed by the command interpreter for login shells.
# This file is not read by bash(1), if ~/.bash_profile or ~/.bash_login
# exists.
# see /usr/share/doc/bash/examples/startup-files for examples.
# the files are located in the bash-doc package.

# the default umask is set in /etc/profile; for setting the umask
# for ssh logins, install and configure the libpam-umask package.
#umask 022

# if running bash
if [ -n "$BASH_VERSION" ]; then
# include .bashrc if it exists
if [ -f "$HOME/.bashrc" ]; then
