@Seth don't remind me. I massacred my 1st long anwser cuz I did not understand formatting. Took Marco 1/2 hour to fix my mess _O- (and I got so many upvotes on it I was ashamed of it)

Why don't you need to escape the slash before the "o"?

9:02 PM
cuz the text is text, not interpreted as html or something like that
mind though: the * will disappear
O
see
so no pompoms :(

That's a pom! not a pom pom
*o*
that is with a \ in front

user139252
*o*

9:04 PM
so in chat you need to escape special chars where the * is for italic
my anime site is down :(

Goodnight guys! :)

Night @Panda
@Rinzwind I'd ask for the site but I guess there would be little to see currently.

Q: How do I boot into Ubuntu 12.10 or higher WITHOUT using grub2, but just grub?

MelissaI have a machine I SSH into on a Rackspace virtual XEN environment originally built as Ubuntu 11.04, but I have since upgraded to 12.04 with a grub 1.99 on menu.lst, not a grub2. The do-release-upgrade to 12.10 ran successfully and was going to reboot. However after shutting down, my virtual mach...

Q: Radeon HD 3000 drivers for Ubuntu 14.04.3? HDMI overscan problems

MustardFacialPlease be patient with me, I haven't used a linux distro since slackware in the late 90's and have since forgotten everything I once knew. Anyways, I've installed Ubuntu 14.04.3 on my main HTPC server machine and am using a 42" LCD TV as a monitor. The issue I'm having is that the default resolu...

you can blame gnome at least.. That's one comfort.

Any of you on Android should try this wallpaper:

@Mateo exciting! Can't wait till April
When I can put my Minecraft server on a stable release :p

10:48 PM
I'm trying out on an external - so many of the last-min cleanup stuff isn't there yet - was hoping to try out my scope on the unity-8 desktop
currently a bug where you can't install anything on it :(

Unity 8 is definitely unfinished. I installed it on my computer before I had to reinstall and it looked nice, but broken :p
@Mateo :/

This is a test prgoram.\n"); return 0; } his n...

@UbuntuQuestionsonU&L not really Ubuntu related

user139252
@Mateo So could I do google-chrome tel://18883334444?

I'm totally going to make horrible, mean web-pages and target Ubuntu Phone users :D

something like that ;P

Lol
Not in Safari
:)

lol

Also, name not resolved

user139252
Did it get taken down? D=

11:20 PM
It seems
Kind of just freezes Chrome mobile

@terdon Spam me with it, please! ;-)

user139252
Chrome mobile freezes

user139252
Desktop is worse off

Script:
                    var total = "";
                    for( var i = 0; i < 100000; i++ ) {
                        total = total + i.toString();
                        history.pushState(0,0, total );
                    }
Is the i.toString() the problem?
It just freezes Chrome desktop too
I guess it's an overload?

@kos Only when you're tired??? ;-)

11:26 PM
Is AU down?
uh oh
My school had better not have blocked the site...
I have to use Hola VPN to get to the site
lol JSLint can't even run the script
@ThomasW. ?

@Zacharee1 sounds like your school needs to have their networking filtering die and be rebuilt
is this Javascript
or Java?

@ThomasW. The system is so bad they had every site unblocked (including questionable ones) in the spring of last year

and can you share a complete code copy

@ThomasW. JS I think
@ThomasW. ?

@Zacharee1 This is an excerpt of code
where's the rest of the code

11:33 PM
That's it

embedded in a web page?

view-source:http://crashsafari.com/
Don't visit the page!!!

user139252
@ThomasW. It's a page that spams your address bar with new address, a string of random numbers. However, it fills up your browser's history cache before it can process new things, so everything just kind of hangs up.

@Zacharee1 I just visited it and I get a warning that it wants to redirect me...
I allowed to redirect once and as no cookies nor script is running on my machine, I can just look at the source!

user139252
@Fabby that's because you're smart :D

11:36 PM
indeed
@TheBrownOne assuming there is a cache
disabled it

Oh, I see it

@Zacharee1 it looks like it's almost a buffer overload ;p

yeah

overload the cache and bam
in any case, don't access it

Springboard crashes :p

user139252
11:37 PM
Read about it in Wired :P

BTW, next time wrap it in backticks
then it's not a link
it's code

true

@JourneymanGeek if you're alive can you mod-power-edit that crashsafari item to be a code snippet and not a link? Or just nuke that message?

@ThomasW. Access it if you've got noscript withdefault scripting turned off everywhere except allowed: No problem...

indeed

user139252
11:41 PM
I need more coffee

@ThomasW: whawhere?
ahh donemethinks
@TheBrownOne nice ava. Its fetchingly monochrome ;p

user139252
@JourneymanGeek @Fabby thinks I look like a turd ;P

lol

I never said you looked like a turd! :P I said your avatar looks like a dog turd!

@Fabby ◔_◔

11:45 PM
;-)
Doing a DB load, so hopefully I won't fall asleep on my keyboard...

that worked, thanks @JourneymanGeek

user139252
I never understood how paper beats rock.

(like last time) >:-)

@JourneymanGeek hate to ask you to abuse modpower, but it's to prevent maliciousclicks :)

@TheBrownOne Paper covers the rock.

user139252
11:47 PM
Like, if I threw a rock at you, and you held up a piece of paper, that rock is totally going through the paper and blinding you.

@TheBrownOne trees can break apart boulders :p
@TheBrownOne Also, the game needs to work

@TheBrownOne You can put a paper on top of the rock and then voilà: no more rock!

user139252
@Fabby Am I a bugblatter beast of tra'al? Do I forget about things just because I can't see them? :P

@TheBrownOne It also depends on the amount of sheets you're holding and the size of the rock...

user139252
If it's multiple sheets, it also beats scissors.

11:48 PM
Two stacks of 250 paper stops a 9mm bullet!

user139252
Unless you have giant scissors, in which case those would beat rock.

@TheBrownOne fabric scissors?

@TheBrownOne Depends on the size of the scissors...
(Edward Scissorhands???)
;-)
E=mc²
(or: everything is relative)

@Fabby Jaws-Of-Life scissors

@Fabby Edward GardenShearsHands really...

11:50 PM
@ThomasW. Never heard that description for hydraulic scissors...

@Fabby close enough :P
in any case, huge ass hydraulic scissors beat all
except explosives

lol

(those beat all >:D)

@ThomasW. except water :p

@ThomasW. Don't get me wrong: I like it! :-)

11:51 PM
There's my nonexistent dyslexia coming through :P

@ThomasW. Home-made explosives... A bunch of ice, some nice vitriol, some more acid and some glycerine and off we go!

user139252
I think it should be "Fire, Grass, Water"
2

user139252
Fire burns grass, grass absorbs water, water extinguishes fire

user139252
But then we'd just be playing pokemon.

@TheBrownOne Good one! Whenever someone wants to do "rock, paper, scissors" I'm going to tell them that I like "Fire, Grass, Water" better!
fire is sticking all your fingers up and twiddling, grass is sticking all your fingers down and water is holding both hands together in a cup form!

11:54 PM
lol
