10:00 PM
American police is still more ethical and better than russian on average

@Serg yeeessssssss?

oh there are honest cops too

@Serg From some quick googling, it seems the only difference is that it runs way faster on an SSD, which would be expected... why do you want to run fsck on it anyway? Did you start getting corruption?

Just don't let them search your car...then they can't plant the dope in your glove box...

What are the chances this will work on Linux?

10:01 PM

have you run a SMART test @Serg?

When new comer from ex USSR gets stopped by police and tries to give officer a bribe, that says little something. True story

@NathanOsman why is there no CSS?

@NathanOsman What the heck is with that page??? It looks like it

10:01 PM
@Seth not yet. How do i do that ?

@NathanOsman is from 1995

@Zacharee1 there isn't?

@AndroidDev yeah it failed to boot this morning

Works on mobile...

10:02 PM
@Zacharee1 try again

@NathanOsman Nope...

oh HTTPS was the problem
I reclicked when I saw it'd been edited
but I was still wondering

@Seth oh good catch. Thanks.

@NathanOsman looks generic; probably

@Zacharee1 I was playing with the URL trying to make it onebox.

10:03 PM
heh

@NathanOsman --^

@AndroidDev click it again
I got that too

I'm thinking of getting a USB 3 external Blu-ray burner.

Discs? pshh

@Serg :(

10:04 PM
But I don't have USB 3 ports.

@Serg - Which model do you have?

@Zacharee1 some of the quad-layer discs can store 100+ GB. That's nothing to sneeze at.

@NathanOsman yeah, but you can get a 128GB SD Card for $35 and it's like five times faster

10:05 PM
That's USB 3.0 though.
@KazWolfe

fails to mount

Argh.

Oh this is bad juju

@KazWolfe No reviews? Pfft...

@Serg did you remember to rm /clothes?

10:05 PM
I pinged the wrong person
Stupid mobile.

@Serg Which model so you have?

@NathanOsman wat

@AndroidDev amd r7

@Serg And more importantly, when was your most recent backup?

@NathanOsman Christ. $52 for 1 Quad-Layer BD and it's only 4x speed!

10:07 PM
Wait what.

@AndroidDev never

@Serg GASP

@NathanOsman BDs are expensive and slow

tsk tsk @Serg.

idk why it advertises USB 3.0

10:08 PM
@Zacharee1 the single layer 25 GB discs are cheap.
I can get spindles of those.

yeah but you used 100GB
and 25GB is still only 6x

Well four single layer discs are cheaper than one quad-later.

damn it newgrounds.

I don't really care about time to burn or speed.

there's no excuse for you to not have HTTPS
4

10:09 PM
It's for archival.

but why no SD cards?
really cheap

They aren't designed for long term storage.

@Serg That's going to hurt. And the thing about SSDs is that if that little controller chip dies, the data is not recoverable because only the controller knows how it's all arranged.

Sure they're cheap - but they won't last as long.

@NathanOsman How will SD cards die by not doing anything?

10:11 PM
@Zacharee1 side effect of NAND storage.

@NathanOsman Exactly. Like these TLC SSDS they're coming out with now...

@NathanOsman it kills itself?

At least i have backup of all my p0rn

I mean, 3 bits per cell? Really? Does that sound like a good idea?

@Serg oh thank gawd

10:12 PM
@Zacharee1 over time the storage cells lose the data they are storing.

I cant tell if my sata to usb connector is bad or what. It seems loose

Seriously. Why the hell is HTTPS not globally deployed?

@Serg Try plugging it directly into your MB's SATA port

There is no reason a big website (or even any website) should not have HTTPS capability!

@KazWolfe same reason XP is still in use.

10:13 PM
@NathanOsman HTTPS doesn't break things.

@NathanOsman On computers where your passport is scanned no less...

Nothing depends on HTTP that doesn't work with HTTPS.

@KazWolfe everything I got is HTTPS-enabled.

unless you still want to support IE4 or something... If that's the case, WAKE UP AND SMELL THE YEAR 2000!

@KazWolfe it breaks debugging.
@KazWolfe Google still supports IE5.
For realz.

10:14 PM
@NathanOsman i have never seen debugging break with HTTPS.
My browser console still works perfectly.
/afk

@KazWolfe I can't debug SSL connections in Wireshark.

So how do I get my menu back?

At least, not without some trickery.

@Serg What is your estimate for the SSD's TBW?
Because that may be the issue as well...

Good news, its alive. Plugged it into my old laptop directly
So looks like i need new usb to sata converter because that one is carp by now
@AndroidDev no idea tbh

10:23 PM
hmmm.

Also RTC battery is low. Oo for laptop that is only a couple years old
No not even 2 years old

i just had a bad idea.
that's awesome.
get one of these. connect a camera to it.
create an IRL HUD.
walk around looking like a complete moron but with full access to tons of useful info.

Running badblocks now

actually...
these VR things would make LARPing so much more interesting. at the cost of looking 120% dumber.
now if magicleap would get their crap together and release a product while we're all alive...

well that is lame...
now pixel is broke beyond repair

10:33 PM
i think its time to invest into some backup ssd and maybe a few other things

@Serg just get a NAS...it is cheaper and more versatile...

@TheXed i will do that eventually. my budget doesnt exactly allow for more toys

@Serg it is not a toy when it is a need.

Eh, true that

Hail!
@Mitch I see you hiding around over there :P

10:38 PM
hullo mr mod

ok so i have an issue

Can Magic Leap just please release a product?

i'm trying to use wpa_supplicant to connect to the internet

I'm aware it'll probably cost my firstborn, but i don't care. I want it.

from tty

10:39 PM
Serg half your python code might be in AU already...what's left to backup? :p

i know my passphrase is correct

@ZachHauk Did you ask a question yet?

should i?

yep.
it'll either point you to a pre-existing question, or it'll help others with the same problem in the future.

Or someone'll hate on you for it and then us moderators have to get involved.
Those're always fun times.

10:41 PM
askubuntu.com/a/865166/208574 @ThomasWard, should this answer be deleted?

@KazWolfe considering that's the third time they posted it across three separate questions, and...
...?
@KazWolfe It was either going to be deleted by me or them.
me because of multiposting
them because they said so in the linked comment (10k+ only)

yeah but it's still basically a valid answer.

@KazWolfe refresh the page
and give me the coffee you promised last week

@ThomasWard I have an HTCPCP compliant coffee machine at 172.94.133.21:13371
Password is "hotlatte". USe as you wish.

injects bad code into the coffee machine, and watches the thing combust explosively
HTCPCP is vulnerable to this.

10:44 PM
um...
no, i have a firewall.

@KazWolfe except you gave me access. Firewall won't help you.

firewall being an apt phrase to protect from explosions

well then it just melts.

11:38 PM
