12:29 AM
Just got a hat for posting 7 up-votes on Mobile called "Cutting The Cord". I also posted a question but it needs "nice question" status so if you want to up-vote it from your mobile to get your own hats hint here it is: askubuntu.com/questions/864574/…

lol your vote-fishing actually gave me the hat
that was apparently my seventh mobile vote
sigh
plenty of upvotes on my HRec question but not even a comment

@Serg Wanna use your awk/sed/bash/python/whatever powers on my question here askubuntu.com/q/864576/367990 ?

Q: MSI 970 USB 3.0 drivers not working, linux mint

gemI've recently built my first PC and got it all working (yay!) except for the USB 3.0 ports. I don't think any of the USB 3.0 ones are working, there are some in the MB/back and also a couple at the front, I did plug in the USB 3.0 wire from the case to the mb, and made sure the USB 3.0 option i...

delete pls
also, wat. most random parent site ever.

very interesting question . . . Doable, I'm sure, i am just not quite sure how to approach it

@serg os.path tools
or spilt the pats into lists with python reduce to the 0 th element and compare new comming paths same way

@ByteCommander so . . . you want the top most path , right ?
Got it. posting soon

1:05 AM
George Michael just died

@ByteCommander Congrats on 28K!... I remember the celebration when you hit 25K although it only seemed like yesterday you were just a rep point baby then :p
@Rinzwind Yes he did... I was surprised he was 53 like me.
* ponders medical check-up *

@WinEunuuchs2Unix :P

I hate 2016 :-P

Serg hates 2016 too
Look at the bright side you got a new president elected!

I have not :=)

1:08 AM
2016: It's not over till it's over!

What country?

Rinzy is a proud Dutchman

:)

Oh my you are top 0.01% this year... from the Netherlands... Queen Bea I think... anyway yeah whatever :)
hey I just realized... Queen Bee... Get it?

We have a king @WinEunuuchs2Unix :P

1:12 AM
Did Queen Beatrix renounce the throne?

Well, past 2 AM... good night folks.

Nite... don't byte the bed bugs...haha sorry I have to stop saying that.

@WinEunuuchs2Unix King Willem Alexander :=)

so yes

1:13 AM
@Rinzwind Is he a good king?

no idea :=)

Hmmm... That doesn't sound right.

we will know in 40 years :=)

How old is he?

49

1:15 AM
That's a good age.
Does he speak German, English and French beside "Dutch"?

hey @WinEunuuchs2Unix, can you ask another question. I'd like to farm a hat.
It basically involves us voting your question down to -3, me answering, and then everyone upvoting you back to +3

@WinEunuuchs2Unix and probably a lot more :-P

tis a dumb hat.

@KazWolfe I asked that question from my mobile to get a hat and never got one :( It took me like 2 hours to think up that question.
@Rinzwind I haven't read anything on your king, nor recall seeing him but vaguely recall Queen Bea renouncing the throne a few / five years ago... anyway it sounds like you should all be proud of him and nudge him into a more prominent roll in world affairs and if not that, then in the EU at least.

Ta-motherducking-da: askubuntu.com/a/864579/295286

1:20 AM
@KazWolfe The only question I can think of.. which would get three down votes... which you could answer... which would then get 3 up votes... would be "Should we put a two dollar bounty on wolf paws to save our sheep herds or is $2 too much"?

@Serg o.o magic
crap joke of the day

@KazWolfe adjusts eyeglasses No magic, sir. Science . . .Computer Science . . .

@KazWolfe that's nearly a dad joke.

I'm sure there's more efficient ways to do it, but that's what i came up with in the last 20 minutes or so

Reminds me of best complement I got on a 2 hour answer to toggle touchpad on/off with a shortcit key the OP said "Are you a wizard? I think you are a wizard"... it makes the work here so rewarding :)

1:23 AM
@JourneymanGeek @KazWolfe and this joke was first popularized by me in the AU room a few months ago, and has been reposted crapton of times

@Serg I am repost.

@Serg next time you create a great joke suitable for reposting put in a footnote with your email for people to send 50 cents to via paypal.
Just think how much money you'll make with 50 cents from everyone with a computer!
And for them the 50 cents seems like nothing.

@WinEunuuchs2Unix that's assuming someone will be willing send me 50 cents for a joke. I had donate button on my github repositories for months now and nobody donated

Haha Netenyahoo is on TV complaining about UN and threatening actions against it whilst totally unaware Israel was created via a UN resolution.

1:28 AM
@Serg I made something called "MenuManager" 30 years ago that took donations I think I got like 50 bucks... Funny thing is I thought of digging up that Visual Basic and Assembler code and doing something similar in Ubuntu / Linux.

@KazWolfe why in the duck they're setting same variable like 50 times ?

@Serg they're not.
+=

Oh, i see. I'm freaking blind today . . . I'm also jabbascript illiterate

it's a poor attempt at obfuscation

jabbascript doesn't have base64 built-in functions ?

1:31 AM
idk

@Serg where? >:)

Does PHP stand for Perl Helps Python or real Programmers Hate Python... what do you think @Serg?

@WinEunuuchs2Unix Programmers Hate PHP

hehe...sorry been wating to type that all day.
#KazWolfe I thought you hated pinging?

@Seth REPOST!

@KazWolfe well yeah
you think I come up with these things?

@Seth Yes.

@KazWolfe I need to burn up 40 up-votes a day for my next gold medal and I want you to know I used my last vote on your answer under this question :)

1:48 AM
@KazWolfe does that question now need upvotes ? or your answer ?

@Videonauth for mavericks, yeah :D (both, ty <3)

@NathanOsman i did you see tweet about that reader app erlier, did you see that the app has now a isbn scnanner function, this is why camera access was needed

If anyone wants good music... we started the top 2000 again in the Netherlands :)

@KazWolfe PHP is a great language if you give it to your enemy. They will soon become exhausted from all of the naming inconsistencies, they will be vulnerable because of the poor security model, and before long, even their youngest children will be "super expert programmers".
@Videonauth no I didn't see that - where did you find that?

@NathanOsman as a reply to a comment saying nearly the same as you did

1:56 AM
Oh. They really really need to put that in the release notes.
New permissions should always be explained in release notes.
Always.

okay, WSL is officially awesome.

@NathanOsman i agree

I can be booted into windows for whatever reason, and still check things in Ubuntu without a VM or reboot!

@KazWolfe on another partition?

1:59 AM
@NathanOsman no, just using WSL

These kids and their new-fangled compatibility layers.

@KazWolfe #KazWolfe @Zanna was looking for wsl experts 48 hours ago here in chat... She'll be happy to know you are one.

I was able to get Kdenlive running in WSL and that was cool on its own.
Never mind all the other goodies.

Anyone get any good deals on Steam?

2:02 AM
@NathanOsman tombraider! :=)

@NathanOsman there are so many right now

@NathanOsman god yes, but can't decide between two games.
NMS or FO4+DLC

deus ex is worth it too

FO4 was good but somehow not very lasting

Even Portal is on sale.

2:03 AM
deus ex i would love to have but im broke, like having 20 cents left broke

Tomb Raider sounds good... wish I could get my GT650M working in Ubuntu.

so i just can't decide ;-;
NMS is cheaper but meh.
neither run on linux, which is a major downside imo

I'm only going to have Intel graphics for the next few weeks.

sigh . . . still not ideal . . .

2:04 AM
Intel HD4000 actually works when Nvidia is broken...just not very well.

Did you guys hear that Atari released Roller Coaster Tycoon Classic for Android and iOS?
It's almost identical to the original games.
$7.99 though.

@NathanOsman Thanks to your post I just heard 22 seconds ago Atari still exists.

Lol.

Sparky Linux or something like that has thousands of Atari like games.

2:07 AM
^^ Playing games in AU chat takes up all my nueral network

Is Witcher 3 worth it?

^^^ Chasing hats
^^^^^ Avoiding downvotes for bad questions

@KazWolfe definitively, had a copy from a friend via family share, and it gave me over 200 hours of fun

when your password is so complex you can't type it

^^^^^^^^^^^ It's the game of "Life"

2:08 AM
@Videonauth it's sort of like skyrim if i understand correctly?

kinda

@NathanOsman All permissions should be explained somewhere in your project,

Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Deluxe is $5 so I'm trying hard to talk myself out of it.

@Seth I've used the same password for 2 decades... I figure the NSA can spy anyways.

@Seth agreed.
Or at the very least, anything that isn't blindingly obvious.

2:09 AM
@NathanOsman Just because the game is cheap doesn't mean she's good for you.

still can't decide between FO4 or NMS.

@Seth Reminds me of the Pub I should have gone to on Xmas Eve instead of being here talking to serg and company

@WinEunuuchs2Unix but it is a good game.

oh that reminds me, since you showed interest earlier @NathanOsman, Owl City released a new single today you can get free on his website

2:11 AM
Oh!
Thanks. I'll check that out.

It's not his best song ever, but the price was good haha

Well, thanks to a mix up, I have both Apple Music and Google Play subscriptions right now.
So I can play nearly everything.
:D

hahaha, that's nice.
If you have Amazon Prime you also have prime music

No it's not. They charged me unexpectedly.
I thought I cancelled Apple Music...

@NathanOsman well, I mean, nice in certain ways.

2:14 AM
But apparently I didn't do it right.
@Seth yeah :P

@NathanOsman missed the blood sacrifice?
That'll do it.

Yup. The blood of a unicorn.
Totes forgot that.

Apple would want the blood of a freaking unicorn.

Yes, they would.

duck

2:16 AM
Where?

look good?

I can't figure out how to deal with a special case for that path processing question
it's intriguing , but man, it's annoying

NMS ROFL

Mini Metro?

@NathanOsman actually surprisingly good on mobile.

2:18 AM
LOL

@edwinksl (yes yes, either NMS or FO4)

just ran a image to gif convert command in the wrong directory. Got a wildly wacky gif.

Lol.

god you guys make me jealous actually, having cash to spend on games :))

@Videonauth my work's paying for it all.

2:20 AM
being early pensioned because of health issues doesnt give me much opportunity to work :/

also NMS has gotten better recently, @edwinksl.
still not good, but not terrible anymore.

Haha not only did I pass an stupid audit question but I was able to correct a typo in it: askubuntu.com/review/low-quality-posts/657821

@KazWolfe i saw they had a patch for base building
oh but work is paying for your game anyway
may as well get it

2:40 AM
@Videonauth Actually when I think of my retirement and what I can do to earn money when I'm not longer able to work in a warehouse due to physical restrictions I thought technical support, help desk, programming or Systems Analysis would be options for income... kind of what many do here no?

well im still in search of a job like that and im now 5 years in, my handicap is i cant leave my home without a caretaker
so its hard to apply for something
dont want to go much into detail here

When I went to college for Computer Programming and Accounting one of the courses was on Marketing and Business and in that course they stressed finding a "Niche market" and "Networking" I think you can do both here... I know Fabby (or someone liek that) for one wanted to hire Serg (or someone like that) so don't give up hope.
I'm actually thinking of asking at work for a job in Systems Analysis and move out of my Warheouse Receiving job because we just got bought out by a company 4 times our size in Montreal... my point is don't give up hope and you can always try.
You could say my 30 years of software development and now working in a warehouse that just got bought out qualifies as a "niche market"...get the picture?

i should buy bad rats

@KazWolfe What?

2:51 AM
oh ok

@WinEunuuchs2Unix In a comment, you can type [edit] to make that text auto-link to the actual Edit button.

@WinEunuuchs2Unix yes sure i get the picture

wooo! 71 games! :D

@KazWolfe I have no idea what you are talking about but my last comment was over 5 minutes ago and you can only edit comments for 5 minutes.

@WinEunuuchs2Unix Go here and comment exactly this: Why don't you [edit] your post so things look better?
Take a look at the resulting comment.

3:03 AM
I will @KazWolfe after I finish this thought to @Videonauth... Today on Al-Jazeera they announced they built a Planitarium Thingy Whatever so Deaf and Blind People could touch and feel the stars. I was thinking why don't they create more IT jobs for the physically limited instead? After all if I can type something here in AU then they can do it to. What does it cost to built a stars plaintarium for the deaf and blind.. 10 million? 100 million?... 1 billion?
but yet they can simply give those people a job doing IT support here, there or anywhere... where people are too busy shopping for shoes or George Michael records to RTFM... know what I mean?

I hear ya

@KazWolfe I lied...I can't click the link...the 6 o'clock turkey arrived at 8 o'clock.

I really hear ya, problem i have right now is that to get a job in Germany you have to have graduated, even for wiping your a**, you need to have a certificate which states you have graduated in it.
and best you have to be 3 years old with 150 years of experience

I need to make a utility called awoo and get it in universe.

Closing thoughts Video Authority... 110 million dollars is to made by white helmets that pretend to be from Syria and lie about death and destruction caused by Syrian Barrel Bombs or Russian missiles. You can make a lot of money selling your soul and lying for the almighty sawbuck these days... but it's a short term "niche market".
@Videonauth if you live in Germany send a ping to @Fabby

3:08 AM
@Serg @ByteCommander

@KazWolfe did you do that ?

no.
i just found it
ruprechtcua != kazwolfe

The wolves around the world who use Linux now can rest easy

will for sure have a talk with him

I can't quite tell what's wrong with me today - my eyes are tired or my brain is out of power . . .

3:11 AM
Linux is now Wolf Compliant.

WPOSIX = Wolf-friendly and Portable Operating System Interface

However, it is not yet Wolf Compatible.

Just updated my Q&A to make it compliant with the upcomming Dropbox changes

Well, it sure is badger-compatible , if you know what I mean
OK, back to watching Hyuna x19
I wish I could understand Korean, because the subtitles are just pain sometimes

I should make the Wolf Operation Layer Framework (or the Wolf Compatibility Layer)
(that is a horrible acronym)

3:16 AM
Start by making a language first
Don't forget to make app-indicator API so that I can write indicators in Wolf and Python

oh god.
wolf will be the bastard child of Python and Java.
freehandedness of Python with the structure of Java.

That might be a bit slow. Write in C
oh, that's what you mean

no, as in how the language works.
and then debut it on PPCG!

As long as I can do anything I can do in Python , that's all I care about in language

aww, lolcat is broken on WSL.

@Serg 80 blood sugar

oh . . .
seriously my eyes are terrible today
or maybe the new glasses are just screwing me

3:37 AM
jeez someone is flagging wildly for close

@Videonauth link?

voted to leave open

I see flagged as primarily opinion based not OT.

Yay, another satisfied customer

or that which is isnt as well
askubuntu.com/review/close/657828 this one too is a valid question in my opinion was flagged for close

3:40 AM
@Videonauth I voted to leave both open.

thank you

That will dump them out of the queue. Why oh why do people keep wasting everyone's time on decent, but slightly borderline questions that have already received great answers? Please. Do something that is actually useful.

i guess the real culprits wont hear it :P

no, they won't. I've spent days of my life down that road.

i had some reviews of that kind within the past days
but those two where obvious

3:48 AM
Well, duplicate posts exist for that reason, although sometimes they don't suit specific case
