I was given the the Task to create a menu in Linux but it appears it's not coming out great. When I select something I want to be able to perform that task than go back to the main menu when I finish. Sorry I'm a newbie so please forgive me

things are pretty awesome now. I didn't really get into programming until I could look up syntax online and the editor had highlighting. finding the missing semi-colon before that was brutal.
I set up my server manually and am pretty happy with it. It's been a job of months, chipping away at it every day, and at this point I don't want to reinstall LAMP. But all server management software that I've looked into, like zPanel and webmin, require a fresh install of everything-- apache, my...
@Seth I remember reading a newspaper article that a new company named Redhat was forming around Linux. I still kick myself for not getting involved with Linux then.
Is there a way to automatically create users, delete users, create groups and delete groups once I selected a task? Also Why im not able to perform any of those task once I select the task I want to perform but instead I'm getting prompt to enter your selection when I choose a task?

@Lucio I've been using Debian and Arch a lot, too; but, yep, Ubuntu's well-rounded awesomeness along with the community help and knowledge base makes it hard to beat.
This one has me baffled. Consider the following Django models - representing zookeepers and the cages at the zoo that they are responsible for cleaning:
class Zookeeper(moodels.Model):
name = models.CharField(max_length=40)
class Cage(models.Model):
zookeeper = models.ForeignKey(Zookeep...
My question really says it all, there is an orange number next to the review button - what does it signify - it isn't the number of posts needing reviewing is it - that seems to be different?
This is the weirdest thing. The script works when run from the shell with no problems. When I run it as an Openbox pipe-menu I get the error "Invalid output from pipe-menu". After playing around with the script I found that it has specifically to do with printing the 5th column.
Here is the scri...

I moved to a new PG and I connected to Wi-fi. My ubuntu gets connected to wi-fi, but I'm unable to access internet. I heard that it was a common bug in ubuntu 14.04. So I went on exploring and came across duplicate MAC address. My ubuntu system has 2 same MAC addresses which gets connected to sam...

I developed a java program on 12.04 32-bit, but now I want to run it on 14.0.4 64-bit. hopefully it runs smoothly as the jvm is supposed to handle the underlying architecture.
I am a completely newbie. I want to install Ubuntu 14.04 in my laptop on which windows 8.1 is installed. I have read in some sites that I have to use Gparted or similar tools, but there are also sites that donĀ“t this kind of tools, just shrink the volume of C:.

x86-64 (also known as x64, x86_64 and AMD64) is the 64-bit version of the x86 instruction set. It supports vastly larger amounts of virtual memory and physical memory than is possible on its predecessors, allowing programs to store larger amounts of data in memory. x86-64 also provides 64-bit general purpose registers and numerous other enhancements. The original specification was created by AMD, and has been implemented by AMD, Intel, VIA, and others. It is fully backwards compatible with 16-bit and 32-bit x86 code. Because the full x86 16-bit and 32-bit instruction sets remain imple...
@JohnMerlino Yeah don't try cross-arch upgrades. You'll end up with a server in flames. Plus it's a good opportunity to take stock of what's running (and whether that's still the best way to do it) on a server and redeploy.
I have been using Unity for a long time and now want to change to GNOME3. I install gnome-shell but I feel several GNOME3 features (as seen in 'help') are missing. What would I do to get the complete GNOME3 experience yet keep unity alive? Is this an exhaustive answer to my issue? askubuntu.com/questions/448155/… or is there something else I could do?
I have installed Ubuntu 14.04 on a partition. Now I have Ubuntu and Windows 8.1 for dual boot.
I followed this tutorial to install Ubuntu: http://itsfoss.com/install-ubuntu-1404-dual-boot-mode-windows-8-81-uefi/
Now when I switch on the computer I have the following options in the grub.

This is an error which I have seen many times, and yet while there are multiple questions about it (here and here), none of them are up voted. Is this because there is no answer, or I can't search and find the accepted one?
Some - about 2 thirds of the reviews - have got larger text, and the other third has small text - why? It is staring to really bug my OCDness that it is random - not even reviewed, no action needed (see the 2nd and 3rd circled ones), or how long ago.
Is it possible to configure UFW just for browsing using firefox, e-mailing using thunderbird and updating the system?
How should I proceed? I would like to use the UFW directly without any GUI.
Hello all, I was wondering how do you handle answers that you know are wrong in everything stated? is it okay to comment to the person who answered it and ask them questions in order to make them do a little research and discover their own mistakes?
