Q: When is "improving / accepting" an edit considered too much?

WhaaaaaatI've come across a couple items in the review queue that were good edits, but they needed more. Should I accept the edit using the Accept button, and then go and edit? Or should I use the Accept and Improve button for any and all edits I do, no matter how severe (as long as they do not change th...

Q: Low-quality-answer flag declined

muruI flagged this answer as low quality since it does try to answer, but misses the point completely: the question is how to make Firefox magnet links in Transmission, not how to manually do so. Was I wrong in flagging?

A: How can I repair grub? (How to get Ubuntu back after installing Windows?)

Web-EThe windows installer doesn't care about other OS in the system. So it writes own code over the master boot record. Its not a problem of windows installer, its intended. If you reinstall, upgrade windows you will face the issue. Fortunately the solution is easy too. You need to repair the mbr. ...

I like The NEW new "Be Nice" Policy ("Code of Conduct") — Updated with your feedback. This new policy might be a good time to reflect on how we are doing with regards this policy in Ask Ubuntu. I feel we are doing pretty OK, but I wanted to start this threat to allow community members to give some feedback on how welcoming and nice they think

Q: Intel HD 4600 graphics card not supported in Linux Mint 17

marlarI have just installed Linux Mint 17 on my desktop computer with a Intel HD 4600 graphics card. Unfortunately it only supports a low resolution of 1920 x 1200 which looks horrible in contrast to the monitor's native 2560 x 1440. I have spend 3 hours googling around trying different suggestions wi...

Hi
How to normalize an mp3 file to 100%?
Is normalize-audio -b foo.mp3 to do so?

1:25 PM
only tested this with sox --norm, so no idea. As I understand it normalize-audio in batch mode will normalize all files submitted to the overall average max... treating them as an album. So a single file may not be at 100%.

@Takkat How to use sox --norm?
@Takkat I tried sox --norm infile outfile, from your answer.

like sox --norm silent.mp3 normalized.mp3
for batch we need a script however.

sox FAIL formats: no handler for file extension mp3'`
This is what I get...

Worked! :-)
@Takkat How can I specify the percent value (e.g. 80%)?

1:36 PM
they do that in dB, i.e. --norm=-2 is 2 dB below 0 (that is approx. 80%).

Thanks a lot!

I think you can add an appindicator area to xubuntu, it should be another add-on like the regular indicator area - maybe look to askubuntu.com/questions/196845/…

DanielRunning Ubuntu with Samba 4 (Zentyal 3.5) Trying to join a new ADC (additional domain controller) to an existing PDC.
