@jokerdino the 1st gets improved by making more new software and learning from mistakes so that will work itself out over time. The 2nd part ... well with no users the software is useless :=)
@Mochan Hidden files aren't really hidden. Assuming you're talking about dotfiles, the dot isn't related to the permissions system and doesn't do anything security-related. It never affects what actions users can perform on or with the file.
@Mochan I'm not sure what you're referring to. Some file managers (including Nautilus) allow configuration files to customize what files in a directory are considered hidden. (But anyone can still press Ctrl+H and see them.) The extension or filetype is not taken into account in determining what basic actions you can perform on the file or on its containing directory. A file whose name ends in .iso and is hidden is just like any other hidden file.

i am using Ubuntu 12.10 and i am trying to isntall LAMPP (XAMPP) 32 bit on my 64 bit machine. i searched few forums and come to know that LAMPP do not support 64bit OS. but authors suggesting to install 32bit libs to trick lampp.

I cannot install new plug in to my linux computer. It keeps asking authentication required that needs a password. I do not know what the password is. Pls help me identify the problem or remove the restrictions so that I could install any application freely and easily.

This kills me about using bounties to promote unanswered questions. There's a difficult question, a bounty is set, one answer is posted, the answer is dead wrong, gets downvoted into the negative, is deleted by the owner... and then since there's no better choice it's given the bounty. How lovely it would be if I could set a bounty with an indefinite expiration date!

Using Unity in Ubuntu 12.04, the Ctrl + Alt + Num Pad combination for positioning windows no longer works completely consistently:
Ctrl + Alt + 4 (move window to left half of screen) was changed to Ctrl + Super + Left Arrow.
A similar change moved Ctrl + Alt + 6 to Ctrl + Super + Right Arrow.
