LOL -> http://askubuntu.com/questions/281087/a-practical-guide-to-ubunatu-linux
@badp QFT!!! Wish I could help on things like that :P But I am a coding n00b when it comes to QT and C :D

it's in python 3 and Gtk :P

Also, the quick smart self test on this disk failed. Woohoo!

and lol. Qt has no C binding.

...that's all "Disks" tells me

@badp oh. backup time

6:02 PM
cool. well at work I mainly do JS and a smalllllllll bit of perl.
We have been talking about Python (I am trying to push it ;)

I wonder what exactly went wrong

I once made a chess game in python :X

your disk is gonna fail.

I have 2 broken sectors. I already know that.
@jokerdino Well of course it's eventually going to fail.

it starts with 2 sectors ;=)

6:03 PM
Mine failed not long ago.

@Rinzwind I just resurrected a computer I hadn't touched for 1,332 days running 9.10 and Windows XP
I had to stop using it to a failing disk
turns out all of the failed sectors were on the Windows XP side of things
so I could rescue the few files I'd forgotten and then...
...then I had to wipe everything anyway because the 9.10 and the 10.04 repos are offline

well almost.

@badp ROFL now that iis what we call ironic >:D

At any rate, except for the dead BIOS battery it's alive and kicking with a hundred-odd failed sectors.
(Nevermind I have no use for it)

btw jokerdino are you too planning remaking UT it in qml?

6:06 PM
yeah possibly.
it's in the plans. we have done some work with Gtk so far.
hm, midnight already. pssst.

qml looks promising and I was thinking of jumping on it
ok does anyone have a codename list for grpahics cards? like wrestler and whistler for amd. my searches come up blank :X :X
and that annoys me >:DD

Oh look. It's our new year tomorrow.

@jokerdino ...merry new 5774?

gratz @jokerdino :D

@badp lol no idea.
i think it is 2013+33
it's apparently 2013+31
Puthandu (), or better known as Tamil New Year or Chithirai Tiru-naal, is the celebration of the first day of the Tamil new year in mid-April by Tamils in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in India, in Sri Lanka and by the Tamil population in Malaysia, Singapore, Réunion and Mauritius. On this day, Tamil people greet each other by saying "Puthandu Vazthukal" () or "Iniya Tamizh Puthandu Nalvaazhthukkal" (). The festive occasion is in keeping with the Hindu solar calendar. Origin and significance The Tamil New Year follows the Nirayanam vernal equinox and generally falls on 14 April of the Gre...

6:18 PM
@Mochan you have a skill for appearing when I'm not here I see.
It is not good to hide from me.

sees RolandiXor is ignoring Rinzwind

@Rinzwind nobody is ignoring you.

badp!! :D

@Rinzwind qml is definitely interesting. it's so javascript-like, but lets you directly interface with C++ classes: example bitbucket.org/jtoivola/qml-physics/wiki/Home

@Rinzwind oh hi

6:25 PM
and here was his 1st homework question: askubuntu.com/questions/281087/… >:)

welp, time to remove xfce then

Q: What do we do with homework-like questions?

The Lord of TimeTitle's pretty clear on what i'm asking. But what should we do with questions like these: A Practical Guide to Ubuntu Linux Ubuntu Linux install xeyes command ... which rely on getting an answer to complete what looks like a homework assignment, as well as are dependent on a paid-for text bo...

posted my opinion @TheLordofTime

tsk late as always @AskUbuntuMeta >:-)

6:48 PM
@Rinzwind check that question again

lol
ok now to think of something to make in QML >:X

I have a couple of things rolling (remakes of the generic games that all handhelds have, but won't exist for Ubu-touch out of the box among other things).

that's a good one :P I guess it would be downloading the game and rip the source apart.

@TheLordofTime why did you have to tell me about bitcoins... now I need a new graphics card.

7:00 PM
@Rinzwind arkanoid would be simple enough, angry birds clone to angry tux, memory, that slime grows through the pipes game, tetris, samegame, any number of gem swapping games, the list goes on ad nauseam
a word-game pack is one i could do. i already have the python logic laying around for a cryptogram thing... it would just be UI and fetching quotes

hmm is there a free questions and answers database somewhere?

@Rinzwind google

I am :P

no, i meant, the free Q&A database: google.

@Rinzwind It's called stack exchange... o.O

7:06 PM
no no not what I meant.
this is the idea: I generate a board of 25x25 and based on random anwsers I create a crossword puzzle
so I need something like a sqllite db with q's and a's.
I probe answers and put the questions next to the board >:D

Oh. So you want an online dictionary or "fact" list with one word answers.

yes and then I create a crossword puzzle someone has to finish :D

A sudoku app would be neat too...and the logic and puzzle base is already existent. You would just need to do UI

I hate sudoku's. They are too easy >:D

@Rinzwind This didn't fare well.

7:10 PM
not when they're 5x5 and have letters instead of 3x3 and 1-9.

hmmm I am overthinking this
a dict would be enough would it not!?
does not have to be questions, could be synonyms.
@ændrük that one got closed due to it being about JAVA _O-
@CallmeV good one. Overthinking again: I was thinking about crosswords with black blocks but it could also be without.

@Rinzwind I was concerned more about the last comment. "Contact the owners of one or more of the crossword clue solver websites and ask if they'll give you access to their databases. Expect to pay MONEY."

yeah I saw one that expects you to fork over 2500 euro

Wow. Just wow.

@NathanOsman wow at $5 grand for a list of puzzle clues? or something else?
@Rinzwind movie trivia you could scrape imdb

7:16 PM
@Rinzwind lol I was afk :D
and I am leaving home now :D

I got lots of ideas now :=D hmm now to get to work >:)

oh btw @NathanOsman I went with a reinstall - I could have fixed the dependency hell (despite it being over 1000 issues), but I didn't have enough time
(I have done it before :P, believe it or not, just it wasn't over 1000)

Yeah, sometimes it's easier to just start with a fresh install.
@CallmeV Wow at actually paying to find the answers to a crossword puzzle.

Well, I'm out! Practice time! See laters folksezes!

laterz :)

7:18 PM
Arranging the words so they spell things horizontally and vertically without seeming contrived and full of holes is a much larger problem than finding clues from a development perspective in my opinion.

sure but no need for black holes if it is one of these: denksport.nl/sites/default/files/Doorloper_puzzel.jpg
no idea what they are called in english :D
diagramless crossword puzzle???

i don't know that there's a word for those in english

there is :=)

sure? it's not just a european loan word?

I should look into using a clipboard manager.

7:29 PM
Does this get closed as NARQ or what? askubuntu.com/questions/281124/…
If you search AU there are people that have had it working since at least 11.10

@CallmeV I'd want to just change the tense and answer it as best as possible.
s/When will/Does/

fair enough... feel free to have at it. i think the OP might edit it in to why doesn't it work with my graphics card given the opportunity. some people do seem to have trouble with that.

7:50 PM
yea, .00007 of a bitcoin... aw that is like half a penny... hm.
so are you thinking of making a new game @CallmeV ?

8:03 PM
@mateo_salta i've been thinking. recently it developed that i can live very cheap and have substantial time on my hands.
i'm thinking if i can have several of the staple entertainment things for ubuntu-phone/ubuntu-touch before it's a thing i won't be looking for work any time in the near-ish future

That sounds cool

We'll see how it turns out.

2 hours later…
10:32 PM
@JorgeCastro could you please verify it now? meta.askubuntu.com/questions/5504/community-promotion-ads-2013/…

@Zignd Looks good to me!

Dlink's support website is almost slower than Launchpad today :P

@MarcoCeppi do you think it will work now? I made it 220x250 as @JorgeCastro said in the comment.

If you want it to be charming you just have to stand up...

11:01 PM
@Zignd Yeah, it looks good now

11:54 PM
@Zignd It needs 2 more votes to get into the rotation
I think the script does 6+ scores
