there was something on MSO about a new "feature" that doesn't allow dupe-ing to unanswered questions...so i think that would be a side-effect

it means we'll have to create and answer questions for every bug that say "this is a bug" and accept it then dupe to that

or dupe to some generic bug question instead of one that has a link to the bug on launchpad....

Or we can just close them all as off-topic, provide a link to the Launchpad bug if there is one, and provide a link to other relevant open or closed questions (with or without answers). Still, I think we should be able to close questions as duplicates of unanswered questions, and this is one of the reasons. This, and self-dupes. How are we supposed to close them?!

@AbrahamVanHelpsing Yes, you have my sympathies. And if your position is that the recent change is not so good, then I am in 100% agreement. I'm open to Shog9 or someone changing my mind...but nothing anybody has said yet has come close to doing that.

@Peachy I think you have to be running an MTA to use that effectively.

You may want to post a question on the site about that; if an MTA is required, someone may be able to answer with a software recommendation and instructions for installing and configuring it for this purpose.
