so is the format in that line what is wrong..

fail() Returns true in the same cases as bad(), but also in the case that a format error happens, like when an alphabetical character is extracted when we are trying to read an integer number.
I have [this code]. I'm trying to write `DATA` to the binary file, then read the binary file, to test this. However, `arc.fail()` returns `true` after my attempt to read from the file into my `memblock` variable. What am I doing wrong here?
@AbrahamVanHelpsing I'm not sure I agree it's always better to install it through jockey-gtk. But I don't think there's anything wrong with the way you've expressed this (reasonable) view. However, unless you plan to VTC, I recommend expanding it into a (probably short) answer.
@EliahKagan that's fair. my point with don't apt-get it is that installation issues for the version from repo were probably sorted out by the jockey/additional hardware team. if you have to use a binary installer/build steps to get things working, then it's still not apt-get. hence my perspective.
like if the binary driver in repo doesn't work for his card, jocket team may have taken it off the list of matching or whatever. then he knows he has to build a driver instead of booting to a black screen and raging

i had windows installed in my laptop and suddenly one morning window couldn't be install...then i tried after formatting and for once it became possible...
i also istalled ubuntu as logocal drive(deleted all HDD partitions) and then tried to install windows but in the mid of installation process...
Meh. I agree insofar as the bit about "SMS language" was a tad jumpy.
Kay's comment was hostile and inappropriate, but I wouldn't flag it. Neither the answer, for that matter. It's a low-quality answer by all means, but both salvagable and more or less answers the question - if it's viable, why not go for something easier to do?

An answer is not a place for opinions, it is a place for evidence, facts and most importantly answering the problem. Your answer fails to do that. It does adress the problem: It provides an Office Suite that is likely much easier installed than this. It's a case of an answer that offers a simpler alternative route.
We have so many genuinely naive users recently, who don't even know that alternatives exist, because they have barely used anything else. I wouldn't rule out such an option immediately.
@FEichinger Exactly. The OP probably should have politely told the answerer that he wasn't looking for an alternative beforehand (is that what you mean?).
@Mochan Either Kay should've asked whether MSOffice is required rather than a different, more compatible option, or Anu should've responded with "I need MSOffice" or something along those lines, or best case: Included that in the question.
And I rather give the benefit of the doubt, until it's cleared up. Downvote, salvage it (or if the poster is that hostile, just watch it unfold), deal with it once it's cleared up.
@FEichinger But because he said nothing about "I would be open to suggestions for other, more compatible word processors" it can be assumed that he didn't want that. Also, even if the OP did say he was open to it, it was still be low-quality because all it is is a link.
@FEichinger we aren't saying the OP was perfectly clear. But we are saying the Kay's answer and subsequent comment do not belong in their current place.
@iSeth And I'm saying: The answer could be perfectly fitting, especially for other users who might not know that (often more viable) other options exist, depending on what is the reasoning behind the question to begin with.
