Putting them in a namespace is also an option if you value the implicit conversion to int.

@Vaillancourt So I got to thinking about this more; since SO & GDSE have a reasonably strong overlap, I sort of took it for granted that the Developer Survey covered us too. But it doesn't cover things like RPG-SE really at all. To your knowledge, has there been any analogue of the Dev Survey for things other than SO?

Some argue it doesn't cover SO either.

It's been talked about somewhere else (can't recall where) that SO was not exactly the main source of revenue for StackExchange inc. (careers and SO for Teams), so it is reasonable to think that their developer survey is only a way for them to decide where they're going.

Shortly after I took the survey, I saw the company’s commitment to rebuilding the relationship with you, our community. Reading the bullet point list there & then thinking about how nobody has bothered to survey anything but SO ... not really sure how to begin to reconcile that.

How does one support communities without asking members of those communities their thoughts on their communities and things central to their core?

No; I also wonder what the future holds. I think they've talked about unifying communities, but were shy on details, last time I've seen anything about it, and people speculated that they could be merging sites like serverfault into stack overflow, etc...

It really looks like their goal is to make stackoverflow bigger, not better...

(according to my point of view, of course; perhaps "bigger" is "better" for them)
