@genaray Why do you think a single 1000-iterations loop will cause problems? You are not going to find paths for your mobs every frame, are you? You can shedule mob pathfinding in a way that they do it not so often when the player is far away, and just wander around aimlessly, and when the player is nearby, your pathfinding will not be that expensive
And when a player is really far away, you can avoid mob movement entirely

The article has some extras like that they trained neural networks to detect whales and that they could milk them more but choose not to because of the backlash when players notice that different people pay different amounts for the same thing.
Too bad that backlash never happened for airplane tickets.

Does this game have pay-to-win mechanics?

nwp
Probably not if the CEO is so conscious of player backlash.

Someone published the estimated in-game cost of a particular item (you craft the item with basic ingredients) in a game I play; when you compare the in-game price to the real money you would need to spend on the "cash shop" (to trade in-game to get the in-game cash), the item amounted to 2100USD.

I too plan to make decorative items expensive to compensate that the game itself will be free. Some items will be extra expensive, just because there are people that want to buy the most expensive thing and brag about it.

@trollingchar Yeah. I guess the concept of "collectible" is also an incentive to have players buy something.

The another reason to have expensive items is that if they would be cheap, then every player would turn their characters into flashing Christmas trees.

I guess it can depend on the game too.
I know the "character creation date" can be a bragging right. But it's not something you can sell.

@AlexandreVaillancourt Surprisingly, some people can do it by selling their accounts. I don't know how can I prevent this.
Maybe just to not show that date is the simplest way

1:48 PM
@trollingchar Yeah, of course. You can introduce the feature a couple of years after the game has been released though! I dunno!
