12:47 AM
@TheMattbat999 Eeek :/
@TheMattbat999 Do you mean that you tried to play the game?

4 hours later…
4:26 AM
@AlexandreVaillancourt yes.

8 hours later…
12:53 PM
@TheMattbat999 Was it fun?

1:47 PM
@AlexandreVaillancourt the old version? Sorta. The latest build is actually pretty good.

@TheMattbat999 Nice :)

@AlexandreVaillancourt i had compiled the game multiple times throughout development, so, if i wish, i can run an old build, just to see how it was a long time ago.

@TheMattbat999 Might want to consider generating installers to make sure it can run on other PCs and on PCs with older versions of Unity?

hello everyone, how are you?

@trollingchar I'm good, thanks, what about you?

1:52 PM
me too
I implemented touhou-style hud recenlty, when you use a weapon, an underlined label with its name appears and rises to the top
total damage of the attack will also be there, but it's not implemented yet

@AlexandreVaillancourt i have tested it on other PCs.
Hello, troll!

hello Mattbat999!

How are ya?

@trollingchar Looks like I'm too old and/or I don't have enough play time.. :P

o HAI folx

1:57 PM
(I don't know what you're talking about :P)
@TheMattbat999 Oh, ok, cool!

@TheMattbat999 good

@AlexandreVaillancourt it runs about 30 or 40 fps outside of the editor, about 10 to 15 fps in editor.

Oh also I remembered something
there is a game Froggy Castle 2 maybe someone knows
recently I decided to play it

I haven't heard of it, sorry

and what happened

2:01 PM
@trollingchar reminds me of spit wad willy?!

you can't even buy the game because full version is no longer distributed at all
I dont know spit wad willy, froggy castle is about a hamster who shoots frogs and they split in two smaller ones
and there are frogs flying on rockets and frogs throwing bombs at you

You're a dude with a straw that spit stuff at balls which split in two :`P

sorry I can't watch videos here, will watch some time later
yes sounds like it's something similar

Yes. And it was made in the 90's
(I think)
1993, apparently.

older than me

long story short, I had to resort to reverse engineering to play the game

Was in the old days: you bought gaming related magazines, a CD full of games came with it.
reverse engineer how?

via IDA

One of my favorite games is a week older than me ;)

But why did you need to reverse engineer the game?
@TheMattbat999 Which is?

2:13 PM
@AlexandreVaillancourt The Elder Scrolls 3

@AlexandreVaillancourt It didn't want to let me past level 11 :(
dead silence

I have no comment
Sorry

Mattbat, tell about your RPG please
it's interesting
I can tell about one of my old games when I was a beginner in programming

It is a retro-styled game, based in a fantasy string of islands off the coast of Medieval Europe. This specific game revolves around The Amulet of Light, a powerful artifact that can be used to control the cycle of night and day.

@trollingchar Oh, hehe
@TheMattbat999 Oh, great game! Started it 3 times, got to the end once :P

2:23 PM
ok my game was a roguelike of some king
trolling-oriented one

I played Angband for a while

During the game, a cult of vampires, lead by Gragnorak, the Aetherian Lord of Vileness, attempt to steal it.
@AlexandreVaillancourt i beat it once, started over like a dozen times

it was very very simple game about green face seeking portal to next level
but every level trolled players in different ways

@Almo It's still set up on my android tablet :P Haven't managed to beat it... yet.

there was a level with drones that intentionally trap the player standing diagonally
and one level with river of digits that moves twice faster than player

2:27 PM
@TheMattbat999 Morrowind requires a lot of time and dedication. And sobriety.

@AlexandreVaillancourt it does. After i beat it, i started experimenting with custom classes to see which is best.

almost everyone ragequitted on this level

Lol troll
Sounds like "The World's Hardest Game"

In university I gave the game to random guys to trol them

@TheMattbat999 Weren't classes affecting only the beginning of the game, and you could just level up any stats you wanted after that?

2:29 PM
Lol.

the last level was an invisible maze
but some guy
he copied console window content
mapped the level

@AlexandreVaillancourt haha not surprised, it's super hard.

and he won

@trollingchar sounds legit.
He did the right thing

that game was named Trollingchars

2:32 PM
@Almo Yeah, once you know, you screw up less.. "Oh right, that mob.. Let's go up one level, and back down to see if they're still here."

it was a lot of fun watching how someone tries to swim across the river of rotate reflectors (there were no combinations of them that allows to beat the level, but there was a trick to rotate one while an arrow is flying)

Hmm... interesting.
My goal for my game series is to have a game that mixes The Elder Scrolls, Dark Souls, and Castlevania into one, beautiful blend :)

maybe even I still have its source code somewhere
Good goal
I have some ideas of mixing different games too
mixing worms and x-com, when you fight like in worms, and research and fly to missions like in x-com

Well, not literally mixing them.
Just like their themes or gameplay styles

1 hour later…
3:50 PM
@AlexandreVaillancourt yes, very similar! There was a bomb throwing boss too!

For those interested in procedural generation, here's a tear down of level generation in Diablo 1.
