I find this very funny
Ok, so essentially, you want to ship your engine as a full fledged program, let your users enter c++ code in the editor contained in your engine, let them dabble with some sprites and such, then let them press a button so that your program compiles their program and output an exe that they can send to their friends? — Alexandre Vaillancourt ♦ 56 mins ago

Q: SFML game engine : how to compile client game?

some devI'm trying to make a simple game engine with SFML for 2D games ( with user interface). and I want to ship my engine as a full fledged program, let the users enter c++ code in the editor contained in my engine, then let them press a button so that their program compiles and output an *.exe. bu...

@AlexandreVaillancourt At least it's intended for other? From time to time, I've seen the pattern of "I don't/won't/can't program X so I want to code an app that will make an X for me". Weirdly, for some edge cases, some forms of ML &/or A-Life coding allows for such possbilities. I don't see either solving OPs problem in my life time though.

@Pikalek The thing I found funny was that they copy-pasted my comment as a part of their questions.
But hey, they just want to make an IDE, essentially.

Yeah. I saw the comment requesting libraries for making compilers and kinda judged the objective to be above the implied skill level. But, sometimes it's educational to reach for something that seems too far & I didn't want to be that guy who says you can't do something.

Yeah. Who knows, maybe they'll cure cancer some day because they did that crazy thing!
Reminds me of Euclideon and "unlimited detail"

Wasn't familiar with Euclideaon - interesting back story.
For myself, I've burned time on ideas that ultimately couldn't work out mathematically to calculate the things I needed, but in the process, gained a lot of insight I probably wouldn't have had if someone had just told me "solution X can't work, don't bother". So don't consider it wasted time.

Yeah, kind of learning the hard way.

All things in moderation though - sometimes you don't want to find out the hard way that your solution requires solving the halting problem etc.

Yeah, I guess at some point you should ask someone hehe
