@021 I'd use Unity
easiest cross-platform tools

Speaking of Unity, anyone using an alpha or beta version? We've had a rash of questions about re-ordering sorting layers not working, and I can't reproduce it in any of the "f" versions.

2:35 AM
I haven't touched any of the pre-release versions. Sorry :(

No worries, figured it was worth asking around. :)

@Almo Hey, I happened to catch most of an episode of'Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics and Men' last weekend. One I caught focused pretty tightly on their come-up & first album. Learned a couple thing I didn't know. Recommended.

2:50 AM
sounds cool :)

@021 If you want to get somewhere faster, I'll say like Almo, go with Unity. You'll most likely have more boilerplate code to write if you go with SFML, and it's less portable out of the box. If you only target PC, and you're good with c++, I think SFML is a good option.
@nwp :P

@nwp Do you think clang could be the only tool for code quality on a c++ project?
Right now we use cppcheck, cppclean and VisualStudio's analysis tool, but I read that clang was awesome.

I don't know. I suspect "yes", but I'm not an expert.
clang can do some super shit

Yeah; what worries me now is that I try to fix some false-positives in a tool that is not (really) maintained for a language that evolves. Something like if ( auto var = myFunct(param); var > 3 ){ /* then... */ } was not valid before, and it is now.

it's so nice not to have to worry about GoT spoilers anymore
I can actually go read stuff about it in various places

7:18 PM
They say people are unhappy with the las season..

Definitely rushed. The first few seasons reeeeeaaallly took their time and had a lot of character development. The last few were basically races to wrap-up the remaining plot points, whether or not they'd really sold the character motivations driving them yet...

@AlexandreVaillancourt Generally more tools is better, unless the tools are so bad that you have to write worse code to get rid of the false positive. Clang as the compiler is helpful, but you probably also want clang-tidy. There is also a company doing even better, but I forgot the name and it costs money.

@DMGregory I didn't see the crazy shifts in character motivations a lot of people did. Most everything looked like (admittedly rushed) culminations of long-standing trends. Just how it looked to me. :)

7:34 PM
"I don't want to rule" 2 episodes later "Sure, I'll be king, whatever"
"I'm off to get the revenge I've been seeking for the past 6 seasons, even if it kills me" next episode "actually, maybe not"

@nwp yeah, we won't fix the code to fix false positives, but we might write scripts to filter them out..

@DMGregory It's not that simple, at least not in my reading of it.

Wow GoT is the topic of discussion everywhere

10:15 PM
yeah it is
massively popular show ends its 8-year run, it's gonna be talked about :)
I am spoiler free though. :)

10:26 PM
Now GRRM needs to finish those books so that I can read them.
