hey guys, what site/platform is a good source for getting statistics about the mobile game market? Im thinking of all kinda statistics and data, not just some general ones

7 hours later…
8:54 AM
@V.7 Ah.. good ol' windows
we all love it

2 hours later…
11:16 AM
@V.7 that's probably fine, right?
oh, wait, you mean win7 specifically, oof

V.7
About 2k difference? Nah, this must not be right for sure

I wonder what's making it nearly half as fast

V.7
So that's why asking

I misread "okay behaviour for windows" :D

V.7
It's quite "wow"

11:17 AM
Win7 must be missing quite a few DirectX optimisations.

V.7
Same DirectX version

wow @_@

3 hours later…
1:55 PM
@V.7 where there even 4k monitors when win7 came out?

hey guys, i'm new to c++ (but not new to programming) and looking for a SIMPLE cpp framework to code a 2d jump and run as desktop application for windows. any suggestions?

user92578
SDL2 or SFML

SFML is an option (as points out Tyyppi_77), I don't know about SDL2.

cool thanks a lot!

user92578
well yeah that's not a C++ framework

user92578
4:29 PM
But it's very simple, and might be easier to get started with than SFML

"SDL is written in C, works natively with C++, and there are bindings available for several other languages, including C# and Python."
@Tyyppi_77 cool, so exactly what im looking for. let's see how long it takes me to code a simple pong game (just for testing purpose) :)

4:51 PM
SFML is pretty cool

5:38 PM
@Kay working on the final version of D.D.D

what is the correct term for like game characters / trees etc. like the design of these items

5:51 PM
@Chris what aspect of the design, specifically? The gameplay mechanics and tuning, or the visual appearance, or something else?

V.7
@Chris textures?

@V.7 yea textures :) thanks

"Surface appearance" might be a better term to use than "design" then. ;) In games, "design" without additional details usually means game design - the process of choosing and tuning the rules of the game.

@V.7 hahaha did you just created this or googled it? lol thanks

oo

On an only tangentially game-related note: my latest laser adventure is cutting & etching a stand for one of the ships from Starlink. :D
Stayed up too late finishing this, but I have zero regrets: Custom laser cut & etched stand for Zenith from @StarlinkGame! ✨🚀✨ It's the first laser-cut object I've made in multiple parts with assembly. I was super anxious all through cutting but the joints fit perfectly. 😀
(Oops, sorry, I forgot how huge tweet previews are in this room. Sorry to like nuke the feed there...)

haha no rpoblem

@DMGregory that is honestly the coolest thing ever! Did you design it yourself?

6:21 PM
@GabrieleVierti I used lineart of thw ship created by our artists for E3 T-shirts, then touched it up for lasering, scaled it, and designed the stand and joint connections.

that's nice!

6:39 PM
nice work!

:D Thanks!
I am having waaaay too much fun with this laser. Might try some textiles next - cutting & etching denim or felt.

7:11 PM
in a few years the entire world will be set on fire
by a crazy man with a laser cutter

Our minister will then add new rules about laser cutters near airports.

1 hour later…
8:16 PM
It's funny when food companies write "made in canada from domestic and imported ingredients". This basically means nothing...

that actually doesn't make any sense :D
but they say that the imported ingredients are domestic
It's totally legit then, you can trust that product

I was being ironic
But I understand that irony does not get understood as well in text messages as in verbal language

1 hour later…
9:52 PM
sarcasm easier to understand than irony in text

10:12 PM
technically, irony is related to a specific situation, while sarcasm depends on the listener or reader to be in on the joke; instead of saying "I was being ironic", it would have been more correct if I said "I was being sarcastic"

My comment was being sarcastic
sarcasm generally depends on the tone of voice, hence why it's often missed in text

that's what I don't like about texting
If you are someone like me, you never seem to get your point across :D

:D
But I made the comment intentionally, knowing it would not be interpreted correctly. that was the joke. :)
I'm weird and I know it.

10:35 PM
fortunately you are not the only one
:D

:D
