Question (hopefully ontopic for this chat): I would like to recommend someone to read "Selfish Gene". Problem is, I suspect that have little to no background in evolutionary biology or game theory.

How accessible do you think the book would be to them? is there some preliminary reading that should be done before reading it and if so, what?

(either Dawkins or anything else).

@DVK-on-Ahch-To it's a popular science book, not a textbook. I admit I read it years ago and as a biology undergrad, but it was written to be accessible to the general public.

So I say tell them to go for it.
