@chris @WYSIWYG @aliced since I have not received any further instructions about the meta post, all I can do now is just extend its time period until I get further instructions.

5:34 AM
Changes to the interface cannot be applied specifically to one site unless it is really required and the site has good number of members. For e.g. the developers would care to create a special feature for StackOverflow or Math.SE MathOverflow etc.

Any suggestion regarding improvement in the interface is a topic for MetaStackExchange. These suggestions would only be implemented if they are generally useful to all the sites. I had, long back, suggested subscript/superscript buttons for the editor as it is a pain to keep putting HTML tags all the time. However, that proposal was not accepted.
However, it is possible for users to write JS codes and configure their browser's static data of the site to add extra functionality. I'm not good at JS. If someone is then they are most welcome to make such changes. This guy said he had made such scripts for some utility. I asked him once if he can make one for subscript/superscript. I guess he told me that he was busy at that time with some exams/interviews. You can ask him again.

@WYSIWYG I don't think any of these proposals would be accepted there since most of them are specific for biologySE

@another'Homosapien' Then you make your own JS scripts.

But when I first talked about this topic, @chris said that we should first collect proposals, and then we'd contact site managers to ask them about this
But that doesn't seem possible now :/

I doubt that they will implement something that serves just one site (that too not a high-traffic site).

What if we just ask them once? I mean, what would that cost? Just telling them about such a list of proposals...

@another'Homosapien' Nothing. I suggest that you select one most significant suggestion which we can pitch to CMs.

6:11 AM
Just one?! I hope you mean that we can later show all proposals to them :/

One at a time would be good, I guess.

I think that this one would be good for the first time since it can be helpful on another site which also gets species ID questions (someone talked about it here, lemme scroll up and see)
@pnuts ah Gardening and Landscaping SE

@another'Homosapien' Sorry, I have been off for the last few days with only very limited online time, so this got stuck.

@Chris no problem...yet :P
But what do I do now, other than what @WYSIWYG has said...?

@another'Homosapien' As an ASIDE (because it amused me) yesterday Web Applications had a Q asking for identification of the cross-breed of a Labrador dog (!) (no picture though). RELEVANT, I think is that Travel also has identification Qs (though places (supposedly) not living things - many are Windows screen savers).

1:53 PM
@pnuts point to be noted @WYSIWYG ;)
This feature can be extended to many SE sites...

2:17 PM
@another'Homosapien' even though it can be, the SE employees should consider that worth the effort.

@WYSIWYG so...any response from SE yet?

@another'Homosapien' Don't expect one.
The way to ask for features is to post on meta (here or main) and tag something with "feature-request". SE will get to it if and when they do.

4:45 PM
@terdon oh man, you just filled me with negativity...although "don't expect anything from officials" is very common in India (@WYSIWYG knows better :P) dunno about other countries

Well, SE have a backlog of feature requests that is a few years long.
Some things do actually get implemented. Eventually. But they have other priorities and many, many sites.

5:10 PM
@terdon what are the timings of this chat; I mean which time this chat box will be so active?. I am frequent user to movies SE there it was always 24 hrs so active.

@DhanrajKumar This particular room isn't very active. I don't know if there's any specific time.

@another'Homosapien'

I guess they are already aware.

I stumbled upon a short discussion on this on Tavern on the Meta.

Somehow I feel pity for this post. Not sure how many of those will be implemented by SE, but just let the idea flows...
