I can totally agree with this answer from personal experience. From a logical perspective, removing the decorations certainly makes sense. However, — wavemode 30 secs ago

Christmas decorations have to come down because there's basically nothing between it and Easter. Any other 'decorations' precede other holidays fast enough that it's not its own chore (replacement, not just removal). IDK what y'all got going on in Europe atm, but here you'd have to wait until Halloween. You should be asking (what would make the above an answer) how to get away with taking down old decorations.... @acccumulation that is what I explain to her, that I had already set on a date with someone else (that couldn't change it now) and I wouldn't feel right to not keep that commitment. I'm just going to go against the "not saying thanks in the comments" rule to thank everyone for the input and advice give. I spoke with her again with a lot of emphasis on the empathy part and I believe the issue has been solved. I apologized for hurting her feelings while asserting myself, and she apologize for the hurtful things she said because she felt hurt. — Blue Pineapple 1 min ago

@Tylerelyt - 1. Voting has to do with the usefulness of the answer, not the author's point of view. I find the answer useful, and I've upvoted it. 2. Miroxlav hasn't mentioned LGBT anywhere in the answer and thus hasn't compared it to anything. 3. I equally refuse to be subjected to either fascism or LGBT issues or religion or politics or whatever, as apparently do the OP. Lastly, here is the actual crux of the issue, per miroxlav, since you've missed it: "OP has to be increasingly careful and better do nothing if not prepared to deal with that." — Tim 1 min ago

@Mazura Do you have a suggestion on how to inquire whether there is a plan to remove the decorations other than... well, asking them if they have a plan? Obviously someone planned on putting them up, so then someone needs to plan to put them down. Otherwise, per the answer, the OP can offer to help take them down. I have no idea where the passive-aggressive interpretations are coming from. — Nelson 1 min ago
