Did you tell him you have OCD? Wouldn't it be possible to find an acceptable solution for both? I think if you showed genuine willingness to make it work first, it would be easier to ask him to move out later. — Boondoggle 1 min ago

Good answer. I am not sure that the "acting" part (taking a selfie and looking (pretending to?) be disappointed) is necessary. That's fine to know a priori that you don't want a selfie. The advice on body language and having your camera/phone clearly visible is spot on. — Taladris 35 secs ago

The advice of choosing the right person is great. It also solves the problem (raised by the OP) of having the camera stolen. You have few chances to have your camera stolen by parents strolling with their children, for example. — Taladris 54 secs ago

Great answer. I am currently preparing students for technical interviews (maths interviews to enter university), where they will have to solve a problem without any preparation in front of the interviewer. To avoid long silences in the conversation, I recommend them to speak by sharing their ideas and feelings, and reformulate the question/problem/given information. The benefit is that, if you misunderstood something, the other person can immediately correct you and you can continue your reasoning with updated, accurate information. — Taladris 15 secs ago

I am French and I would have the same impression: someone calling me twice in a row would mean they want to contact me right away, and I would assume it is an urgent matter. I would be rather annoyed to learn it was just for a pizza. — Taladris 1 min ago

+1 I have lived with them for a few months now and there are a few different denominations in the house. I had no idea that different types of Christians can have such different beliefs (such as fundamentalist Catholics compared to Anglican etc) — Haptometer 1 min ago

Being honest is the right thing but why not be honest on the reason as well? If I spend some words to explain why no second date will happen, it doesn't hurt and makes me not leave the scene as an idiot. — puck 14 secs ago

If I spend some words to explain why no second date will happen, it doesn't hurt and makes me not leave the scene as an idiot. I can't agree to say if the other one asks why then it was the right decision to quit. Btw. the question is about to end gracefully, just leaving is not graceful at all ;-) — puck 43 secs ago

"Someone walking at a leisurely pace" - if you are a tourist, there are probably other tourists who will be quite willing to take a photo of you. People busy going to or coming from work are often not so keen on tourists. — gnasher729 21 secs ago
