I left it too late to rebuild my relationship with my father (as noted below, a man of his time who did not understand apology or regret). He died suddenly of a brain clot and I lost that chance. As an alternative, perhaps start with asking for help in solving that one issue; in other words, approach it from a, "Is there anyone that has insight into this sort of issue that is available to give me some pointers on this? It's the last piece before the system is finished." Then they see that you a) are a go-getter who accomplished things, and b) you're not afraid to ask for help. — John Doe 1 min ago
