Q: Would tags for specific books be appropriate?

An old man in the sea.I'm wondering if tags for example Durret's Probability book would be allowed. I think that when one is reading a book, it would be interesting what doubts other user had when reading the same book. It can improve our learning experience.

BTW it is still possible to mention in the text of the question where the problem comes from. So you can simply use the built-in search or Google for this purpose. — Martin Sleziak 4 mins ago
@MartinSleziak I don't think the built-in search works that well... — An old man in the sea. 3 mins ago
@Anoldmaninthesea. Well, all that creation of the tag does is that you have possibility to search using the given tag. In any case, if you wish to discuss this further we can continue in chat - so that we do not digress too much from the topic of the question (which was about creating the tag). — Martin Sleziak 11 secs ago
Well, personally I do not see that much difference. If the tags were created, all you get using the tag would be a list of questions where somebody added this tag - and than you would refine the list further using additional keywords, or sort by votes or other tags.
These are exactly the things which you can do using search.
For example, Durrett Probability is:q returns all questions where this books is mentioned directly in the text. And you can further sort them by votes, recent activity or additional keywords or tags.
Hi @Anoldmaninthesea.

I didn't know this...
thanks martin

I will just add that if you go to search you can click on "Advanced Search Tips" - this shows you various modifiers that might help when searching.

Maybe I need to read that part of Advanced Search tips...
yes, lol

Probably also some of the posts about on meta contains some advice that is quite useful.

I think the name is actually Durret (one t). In any case search finds 23 Questions that way, and it seems that search has improved a bit over the years on the site. I still find myself turning to Google search to find things here as often as not.

@hardmath I often use Google, too. But often it is useful to restrict search in some way - for example, if I want posts by a specific user or combination of some two tags, etc.
And of course if the searching chatroom gets a bit more active (at some point in the future), it might become a good place to ask for various tips about searching.
