Q: Is it possible to know the name of a user with account deleted?

BellatrixAs you know, when an account is deleted, the name of the user is set to their id, say user123. Can we know the name(s) of this user when was an active account? I did check data.SE but found nothing about this. Maybe through other sources? Thanks

A: Is it possible to know the name of a user with account deleted?

Martin SleziakEDIT: Originally I suggested using SEDE (see below). But probably a better option is to use some tool getting data about the usernames from Stack Exchange API, such as the one mentioned in the comments. (It is also mentioned in some other places - on this meta: To whom am I replying?, on Meta Sta...

It is currently available here: msleziak.com/stackexchange/oldusernames
Let us test the tool for some deleted user - by putting in the link math.stackexchange.com/users/98602 or math.meta.stackexchange.com/users/98602
We can also test this for some user who has not deleted their account - and they changed the username in the past. For example: math.stackexchange.com/users/334732/samerivertwice
As mentioned before, it won't work for users with interpunction (full stop, comma) For example, if the username is J. M., we only get J.
Here is a related conversation in MathOverflow chatroom: chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/9369/conversation/old-usernames (Although I don't think I have mentioned there something which is missing here.)
