Q: How to transfer the player into a new scene, loaded in the background?

rraallvvI'm porting an old BuidBox 2 game to the Godot game engine. I already added all assets and scenes to the Godot project. The game is a 2.5D (isometric) endless runner. What I want now is to add a mechanism to load the next scene offscreen, remove the player's character from the current scene, and ...

@FreeInternetPoints This is a weird bounty...

2:30 AM
It is. :/

They used it to get the Investor badge

What is going on here: gamedev.stackexchange.com/a/186027/35344 ? :D

@Tyyppi_77 That seems to be coming out of nowhere.

user92578
Huh?

I mean, the fact that they would want the badge.
They have a very low participation on gamedev.

user92578
I wouldn't call double my rep low participation

Errr I'm not sure what you mean here
We're talking about this user proposing a bounty on this question, right?

user92578
Oh I got fooled by the bounty post right above

My bad

Ah, ok, no worries ;)

3:54 PM
I use a web host that allows me to access it via SSH.
But it gives me only 10 seconds to type my username and the passphrase.

4:16 PM
@Vaillancourt sounds like a good concept

4:27 PM
@Vaillancourt Maybe a user trying to divest themselves of their association bonus in SEs they're no longer interested in using?
@Vaillancourt Oof. I time out on my WFH login constantly because I enter my password, then go check email on my other machine, then look back and realize it didn't sign in yet, it's been waiting on the "Do you want to stay signed in?" dialog long enough to expire instead of just using the password I gave it.

@Tyyppi_77 nope, it's likely on someone's priority list, but closer to the bottom. I take a look once in a while to the questions that have close votes on them and I close those that have 3 votes.

user92578
Am I looking at the Web Apps meta post correctly and it took 3 days for them?

4:49 PM
@Tyyppi_77 yes, however, as I understand it, shog9 was the one who knew how to do that, and he was laid off later that month.

user92578
I see

5:10 PM
:D
laying off shog was a super-smart move \s

I thought shog left of his own accord

His tweet "I suddenly find myself in need of work." and this suggests not but I'm not sure if it's confirmed anywhere: meta.stackexchange.com/a/342045/300282

We don't really know what happened and the impression I get was something reached a point of either the Stack saying "do this or walk" or Shog saying "do this or I walk" and the operative party went with walk
That's speculative, but it seems like how this could've happened
(or "don't do this" or "this is unacceptable" or whatever)

5:54 PM
considering Monica's case I know what I believe more likely

user92578
6:16 PM
Oh wow, I had no idea that was the case, SE really could've done a better job pointing that somehow out, but perhaps they legally couldn't

This is the best thing I can find on SE about the whole situation: https://meta.stackexchange.com/questions/334399/summing-up-the-main-issues-the-story-so-far

feel free to believe whatever you wish, it seems pretty clear to me that the blame is not fully (if even at all) on the side of Monica
It's sort of a testament to either SE being insightful, or overwhelmed with the whole stackexchange business, that this has not yet been removed from the site - as so many other threads have that bubbled up during the active phase of it

Hello all :-)
Is this the right place to ask simple OpenGL questions?

user92578
10:38 PM
Yup!
