Holy crap. Godot Editor is a Godot game. It runs on the Godot Engine. The editor itself is made wholly inside itself.

As to why these mad people would do this, beside that their power knows no bounds and absolutely nobody can stop them, it means the editor is fully extensible from within the editor, using all the components Godot devs already know from using Godot.
Most (all?) of their editor controls are controls found within the editor and engine itself, which we can use inside games if we want. Or we can just use them to mod the interface to fit our game dev process.
The sheer audacity of it. I love these people.

@doppelgreener I suppose it's a nice way to test your won stuff :)

1:40 AM
I worked on a language/compiler in the past, and the project at the time was to compile the compiler written in its own language.

2:01 AM
@doppelgreener That's taking eating your own dog food to a new level! I'm impressed.
@Vaillancourt This idea blew my mind the first time I read Reflections on Trusting Trust. 😲

@doppelgreener This means that when they write the compiler for a new platform, then they automatically have the editor in a new platform. It's very smart, and I've seen it before. REALbasic (now XOJO) leapfrogged platforms this way in the late 90s.

Oooooh. I hadn't thought of that.

:D

@DMGregory I'll try and read that!

2:20 AM
@Vaillancourt we do not get snow here. I would say cold is about 5 celsius 41 farenheit

@Titaniumammas69 Nice! I say a 5°C with humidity is worse than a dry -5°C :P

Apart from antarctica Australia is the driest continent in the world but when it rains it feels much worse!

@Titaniumammas69 Oh ok! I knew people that went to northern France, and it was so humid that felt it was so cold, even if they were used to actual cold..
Funny how humidity can change perceptions!

Yes!!
I believe the reason why moisture/liquid makes us so much colder is because it absorbs the heat on our skin and then evaporates taking the heat away.

2:36 AM
I guess so; humid air must take more heat before warming up?
That would also be because humid hot air makes us feel hotter?

1 hour later…
3:41 AM
Yes humid air is already warmed up since it is airborne. What may happen is it rises a few metres but cools down and slowly floats down again more cold until it touches something hot or it fully evaporates

7 hours later…
10:23 AM
@Almo oh, that is smart. :D

Setup my reflection system to wrap cxxopts for command line argument parsing, took only like 30 lines of wrapper code and now I can add command line parameters by adding members Parameter<bool> RunTests{ "Run unit tests on startup"sv, false }; (& listing them into a reflection macro) to a class

11:38 PM
Ooh!

11:56 PM
Does anyone here know if we're allowed to use brand names/symbols when referring to controllers while developing on PC? E.g. are we allowed to use Xbox symbols (like these for example: opengameart.org/content/game-console-controller-buttons) for tutorials in our games? Or is Microsoft/Sony really uptight about those sort of things?
