Who removed my message? I've just tried to show how companies make bad games!

I did.
Popping in here, dumping a message like this, then leaving and saying nothing about it is kind of rude and spammish...

V.7
Sorry.
The main reason was a question about how do they sell games without even testing them

I've seen a game once (airport tycoon, if I recall), where the tutorial, where it showed how you could place buildings, did not work correctly. It was showing the player how to place buildings, so it tried to do thand, then figured out that it could not, then skipped to the game.

V.7
The same. Just 10 minutes, at the tutorial. Character started to fly around room without even letting control him correctly.

I guess they keep the tutorial for the end, and they don't have time to finish it and/or test it?
You can re-post the link if you feel like it :)

Ah, thanks, but, it's not necessary. Btw, the game's release date November 9, 2018 so they might already try fix it.

5:08 AM
It's likely :)

how do you people do this :O

7 hours later…
1:24 PM
it was -22 yesterday here. woke up this morning: feels like -32 because of the wind.
And, well, we dress appropriately :)

1:57 PM
I'm at the Victoria & Albert video game exhibition.

2:37 PM
@AlexandreVaillancourt my god stay warm!

@GabrieleVierti Yeah, heaters are having a hard time to keep up, mostly due to the fact that our windows are old and need to be replaced. We dress more inside too :P

3:28 PM
oh that must be awful ahahaha :D

That was a good exhibition. Lots of concept art, but also planning documents like mood boards. Also several short films (5-20m) and installations examining game design, diversity, violence, etc.

4:35 PM
oookay, I have some solid basics now, I just need to make art stuff and replace the placeholders :D

Kay
5:14 PM
@doppelgreener I really envy 'murica in that regards sometimes as there are just a few game dev conventions happening around here

6:03 PM
@Kay here there are none... like ever

Kay
6:45 PM
@GabrieleVierti where u from ?

7:05 PM
Italy sigh

Kay
7:24 PM
I could've guessed that. Well I'm lucky enough that there is something happening around here. There is like a local monthly game dev meeting here why I sometimes attend
havent had much time this weekend. But changed from single character turns to during a whole turn you can controll all characters into all attack at once

cool ahah :D
nice attack animation

Kay
I've added iTween to tween it cause I did not feel like doing it myself

Ah
Well it looks nice anyway, so who cares

Kay
7:43 PM
Only people who might see the code :p
But yeah no one cares. Best part its not completely overkill unlike other tween libraries

7:54 PM
working on a test robot

Kay
that looks cool, what is it for ?

I'm making a game called "arenabots"

Kay
oh yeah, that!

Kay
Are you gonna make like build your own bot option or rather premade ?

7:57 PM
I was thinking premade robots would be better at first, since the gameplay would be more "under control"
but adding a "create your own bot" mode in the future should not be impossible

Kay
sounds aight. Creating your own bot might also slow you down b4 creating a working prototype

exactly :P

Kay
Model looks dope though, too bad I lack any creative skills

In the end, the game will be completely free, without hidden "pay to win" mechanics
Just play with a friend and shut up :D

You get better at something the more you practice it

Kay
Yeah you are right. At my point though I don't have the time time to split between programming and other things. I just outsource whatever I cant do

8:05 PM
ahahahahaha :D
@Kay Oh and by the way, I suck at drawing
like a lot

Kay
So I guess what you are trying to tell me is that modelling is way different from drawing/texturing
... i guess

@Kay sssort of
when you are 3D modeling you should always follow a reference of some sort. When modeling a complicated hard surface 3D model like a car artists usually follow blueprints:

Kay
Now that I think of it I actually do some "artistic" stuff for my game
Voice acting as well particle effects. It aint that bad :p

Nice
So you have a nice, deep voice? like Morgan Freeman?

Kay
Just versatile and a little editing comes a long way

8:14 PM
cool.

Kay
Like you can get sth like this soundcloud.com/user-282642961/fur-crothajong with little to none editing

broken link :(

nice
can't wait to play your game then
with all these demonic voices :P
This is more visually appealing than a cube

Kay
I name it D.D.D.
Dis dude dangerous

8:34 PM
That's it
It's his final name
I don't care anymore
In your honor :P

Kay
haha

V.7
8:46 PM
Oh, so you're creating something like Robot Arena?

@V.7 yup :)
it's a local multiplayer game
a couch game as the cool kids say ;)

V.7
Oh, neeeeeat
