Q: How do cinematographers do super zoom out shots?

Tyler DurdenSometimes I will see a super zoom out shot in a movie. For example, in Bourne Legacy, the opening scene has the protagonist swimming in an icy lake in Alaska, then warming himself by a fire. The camera starts on him by the fire, then zooms out hundreds or even thousands of feet so the viewer can ...

Q: Fredo's wife: do we know what became of her?

releseabeI think the last scene she is in is after the shooting of Michael's bedroom -- I think she is being forced back to her quarters iirc. It is clear that things are not working out between Fredo and her and that they got divorced soon after the night of the celebration. In any case, we neither see n...

Q: What kind of drink is Ben Affleck drinking in the beginning of this movie?

VikasI'm seeing Jack drinking a cane of some drink in car and then in shower in very beginning of movie. Apparently it's written kind of "Clutter" on it but I couldn't find it only Google. Maybe they just made a temporary brand? So is it a known brand? Is it a soft drink OR some wine/beer (I mean alco...

Q: What is the difference between movies and films

JacksonThe title speaks for itself. So often in discussions surrounding cinema, I see the words ‘film’ and ‘movie’ being used interchangeably. However, are the two really the same? I would appreciate it if you guys could explain it for me.

Q: What was the computer system used for CGI in first Harry Potter movie?

Bartek MalyszWhat was the computer system used to created CGI in the first Harry Potter movie? How powerful this computer may have been? Since it was late 90s I don't suspect Silicon Graphics was still the thing? Although I'm purely interested in the computer system and it's performance / limitations the ques...

Q: Godfather: Some related scenes: foreshadowing?

releseabeIt only occurred to me recently (and in the case of Kay, just now) that there are a couple of pairs of related scenes. The first is the undertaker discussing how his daughter was disfigured; then perhaps several months later, it is Vito who shows Bonasera Sonny's body and in tears says much the s...

Hmpf, finally got around to watching the last two seasons of The Expanse. And apparently what felt like a totally random and inappropriate major character death for business reasons...indeed was just that. Too bad, since he was one of my favourites. But really. "We saved the day and everyone's fine. Oh wait, dude just got a heart attack from flying too fast." Like, wut?! I mean, at least have his death make sense!
Still great show nevertheless. But he will be missed.
