Q: An amazing piece of trivia: False connection between Paper Moon and Dead End

releseabeYou'd have to know both movies well to understand/appreciate this: In Dead End, the Bogart character, back in the old neighborhood, goes to see his mother, who, far from being happy to see him, excoriates him -- it is not a happy reunion and he will never see her again. The actress is Marjorie Ma...

Q: Was Mirage (Syndrome's assistant) complicit in the murders of all those supers in "The Incredibles"?

AlexIn "The Incredibles" (2004), it is clearly established that the female character Mirage willingly serves as the "main bad guy's" (Syndrome's) executive secretary / right-hand woman. (It is also suggested that there exists some personal emotional relationship between them - whether that relationsh...

@M.A.R. Gol standalone means circle or circular. But in golmaal, it's not used that way.. it’s just a coincidence that a string “gol” appears in the movie’s name.
@M.A.R. i think Gul is what means flower..

@AnkitSharma oh it's a show then it's going to be stretched for no good reason.. I don't think I'm going to watch it

@ankii Some variation in pronunciation is almost inevitable after two millenia
@ankii Scorsese says shows are artsier these days. I think he's right.
Pick the right show, and let them stretch it as much as they want

11:17 AM
@M.A.R. what if it becoem game of thrones level dumb :P

11:42 AM
@AnkitSharma Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Unless you're saying the first six seasons are as bad as the last two.

@M.A.R. but it could have been better if in seaosn 6 end whitewalker come and kill all to set peace

Yes, one big persistent flaw with making shows is the creators become really good at twisting things, not so much at ending arcs
GoT declined in quality only when Martin didn't catch up

@M.A.R. Now martin is so scared to even catch up so making spinoff shows instead

My speculation is the Dany ending is probably what he was going for anyway, and seeing how easily empires can fall, he's hesitant and careful not to make any 'mistakes'
Although TBF, expanding the universe is one common thing writers do when their franchise takes off.
And the Dany ending, with the same essential developments in the plot, could have been perceived as really good, if everything wasn't so rushed.

12:04 PM
In fact, if Dany suddenly turns evil in the books, I wouldn't at all be surprised.
From what I gather, certain depictions in the show are way more black and white than Martin intends
Apparently the Arya in the show is much different, and not in a good way

1:00 PM
I don't mind evil dany, I never even liked her but there should be a process to reach there

@M.A.R. I think Gul and Gol are quite different in pronunciation..
Gol is pronounced like Gaul
u in Gul is very short..

Q: Did Murder She Wrote plan for a handsome young man in each episode?

JC007BI started re-watching Murder She Wrote. When I started the second season, I realized that I was seeing a handsome young man in almost every episode. Sometimes it’s a bit character like a deputy, security guard or ranch hand, sometimes they are a minor character. Was this a known strategy the prod...

Q: The inside Man logic

How could Clive Owen just hide by creating a false room inside a room without police never noticing anything when nothing is being stolen from the bank? The police would have stripped the bank apart and searched every inch of the plan. No? Ban...

@ankii they have the same consonants. I'm fairly convinced they share the same root in Persian and Hindi, you can check out an etymology and correct my assumption otherwise. And Persian Gol is not pronounced Gaul, its vowel is like the first vowel in "Morning"
@AnkitSharma no windows + prnt scrn?

@M.A.R. don't work for videos

Huh. Maybe YouTube disallowed it?

Also now by default printscrn is disabled and I have to google to get how to activate it

If that's possible

4:00 PM
@M.A.R. amazonprime
@M.A.R. I used to take it fine weeks ago on ubuntu + dell
Now it's new laptop with windows 10+ dell

Well I've never gone close to those OS's, it's always been Windows or Android for me

Youtube working fine
Netflix I can't test and the video screenshot I want is on Prime only

I don't have Amazon Prime either, even my own country has few jungles
Can you use Snip?

What is snip now O.o

@AnkitSharma in the search box, search for snipping tool

4:06 PM
It's same
prime video getting blank

So how does it work elsewhere but not on Prime?
Oh
So it's Amazon's doing?

let me test netflix

Yes, it's Amazon's doing.

A: Significance of Hindi words in Orochimaru's theme song?

AlanThe words "Dil and "khamosh" are used in both Hindi and Urdu. The other words 'baat', 'na' and 'kar' are of Sanskrit origin. Kar is derived from the root word 'karma', 'na' from 'na' (meaning 'no/don't') and 'baat' from the word 'वार्ता ' i.e varta. Let me explain in detail: वार्ता -------.>...

I am confused about this answer
It's well researched but don't answer the exact question
beating around the bush but upvote worthy
I noticed the same black screen issue using Google to access Amazon.

This is NOT an Amazon issue. It is a browser issue.

As a test, I opened Amazon in Firefox, and "print screen" worked fine.

Based on a comment above, updating to Google Chrome may solve the problem as well.

Well, it's saying they're not meant to be Hindi, but Persian
That's a satisfactory answer in my book

wtf, i don't rmemeber password for firefox, I don't even have firefox for now

You're using Edge?

@M.A.R. google chrome and all complain said it's chrome issue with prime, maybe exes :D

I dunno, Google is getting more and more shameless about invading your privacy

4:14 PM
@M.A.R. but but that song is hindi song and Hindi is not a pure language, it's mixture of sanskrit , urdu, farsi and persian

I'm stuck with chrome, cause I'm too lazy to move things elsewhere, but you should consider it

Hindi was kind of developed as common languge between pre britisher invaders and localites

@AnkitSharma Persian and Hindi are of the same origin. It's not impossible for a word to go back and forth between the two and sustain some changes, but I'd think the influence is small
Of course, I can't speak Hindi

@M.A.R. I have my login saved in chrome and I like it more the firefox. But yeah google know abotu me more then my whole family and bf combined

That they know isn't a problem, that's natural. That they want to know when you don't want them to, and that they enable tracking companies to track you, is

4:17 PM
@M.A.R. My point was Naruto used a song which is hindi or urdu ( as per older answer, which I disagree) , lyrics can be derivative word of persian or urdu or gibrishology but what is teh significance of it
@M.A.R. Like me getting gay ads in social network where I am faking to be staright?

shrug there can be many benefits to knowing the etymology, or none at all.

Also tiktok was mostly showing me gay ads, I am sure it's there own ad system but is it for staright too I wonder

@AnkitSharma like trying to find out a search you performed with a VPN and in incognito was actually you

@M.A.R. that's why I said worth upvote for so much efforts
@M.A.R. I can't do so much efforts also my isnat is enough to prove my sexulaity if anyone try enouh

I can't care too much about my privacy either. These days, keeping private impacts UX heavily
But check out browser compartmentalization
Good method

What to do with "Breathe: Into the Shadows" questions , First seaosn is called "" only but no question yet and we usually do seaosn 1 title and carry it forward

I gotta get some studying done, TTYL

@M.A.R. I just get why google why when they remind me about my upcoming flight and movie tivket I boboked on third party from yahoomail
@M.A.R. happy studying
Uff why my bf log me out from everywhere and login his account grrrrr

4:40 PM
@M.A.R. the examples were not perfect.. Consider this: poll vs pull. That's the difference between gol and gul.

@ankii No, it's not. Consider this: What's the likelihood that two languages refer to the same thing with the same consonants?

idk
you tell me

@M.A.R. you supposed to study :p
@uhoh hi o/

@AnkitSharma I'm having dinner in front of the screen

ohhh
I have to make dinner

4:44 PM
@ankii Like, this shouldn't even be contestable. Go check out the million words that share the same roots in Germanic languages and the changes they have gone through over time

Nothing much to do but yeah soem heating of half cooed Parantha(bread) and gravy

They're almost as often completely changed

@M.A.R. okay maybe we have bad Persian/ Urdu ..
what do we call them ?
poets ?
ghazal singers ?

dancers?

@ankii What does that even mean?

4:46 PM
@M.A.R. that the people I've heard speak gol and gul speak it very differently.
even when they're speaking in Urdu
you're the first Urdu speaker to tell me that they're pronounced the same.

I'm a Persian speaker, and I don't say they're pronounced the same.
I say they have the same origin
What you can do to prove me wrong is to prove they're false cognates
False cognates are pairs of words that seem to be cognates because of similar sounds and meaning, but have different etymologies; they can be within the same language or from different languages, even within the same family. For example, the English word dog and the Mbabaram word dog have exactly the same meaning and very similar pronunciations, but by complete coincidence. Likewise, English much and Spanish mucho which came by their similar meanings via completely different Proto-Indo-European roots. This is different from false friends, which are similar-sounding words with different meanings...

" I don't say they're pronounced the same." then we're good ! :)
we would be good even if you didn't say that.. ;) but better now.
okay bye
gotta eat food

@M.A.R. why to prove? I mean we can just make a statement and leave the discussion :p

@AnkitSharma Well, "proving" things is often impossible. But you can show overwhelming evidence that the moon landings exist, and let people make their own conclusions

Wow prime also have multiple profile thingy

4:50 PM
@ankii When did I say that? I scrolled up and did not see a single message where I said that!

@M.A.R. there is a moon? I though it was giant CCTV setup by americans to spy us

@AnkitSharma Using multiple profiles per email or multiple emails linked together?

by "that" I mean this whole message "I'm a Persian speaker, and I don't say they're pronounced the same."

@AnkitSharma No that's Mars, it has to be less conspicuous

@M.A.R. multiple profile on same account to keep your suggestion/prefrence and pending stuff different

4:51 PM
Even now Curiosity is checking your dinner

@M.A.R. @AnkitSharma we found those who crashed mangalyaan

@ankii shrug Bon appetit

@M.A.R. yeah..I should get less verbose

So Hinduism already have the question I was gona ask and for movies I can't take screenshot as I am lazy to experiment more
@ankii chinese? Aliens? Iluminati?

@AnkitSharma tsk.. American CCTV setup which MAR said is at Mars.

4:54 PM
@ankii Who's Mangalyaan and is he OK.

@ankii must be lizard people then
@M.A.R. mars rocket whatever you call it

@M.A.R. no it crashed some hundred metres above Mar's surface

That sounds painful

and red!

@AnkitSharma The project everyone made a fuss about a while ago?

4:55 PM
Russians crash more then us, so it's fine. We spend less, crash less
@M.A.R. that was Chandrayaan-2 I guess, I don't keep track on space shit
By the time we make moon colony my grandkids will be in 100s of age so....

Unless you do something with it, it'd be a vanity project
But you have a vanity project at least.
@AnkitSharma We might never do that.

Q: Raavana's dress code during abduction

Rakesh JoshiRavana came to seeta's place in disguise of an ascetic. I want to know exact description of what actually he looked like? From head to toe.

title is bit , fancy dressish

SciFi writers rarely consider the practicality of such things, when cheaper alternatives seem more viable.

Q: How should we interpret the ending of "Palm Springs"?

BCdotWEBThe wonderful (and well-received) 2020 Hulu movie Palm Springs ends on an ambiguous note, especially when you consider the mid-credits scene that follows. So how should it be interpreted?

room topic changed to The Screening Room: “We are all the pieces of what we remember. We hold in ourselves the hopes and fears of those who love us. As long as there is love and memory, there is no true loss.” [mod-rage] [sarcasm-at-its-finest] [sardonic]

5:54 PM
Where is that from?

Well that's BS. If you lose a loved one, you can't have any more love memories
@NapoleonWilson Cassandra Clare, per Google
"We're all pieces of what we remember" sounds gruesome O.O

@M.A.R. But what film/TV-show?

@NapoleonWilson She doesn't seem to have any TV shows inspired from her books
Or films

@NapoleonWilson Shadowhunters TV show

I didn't know her till now Shrug

6:00 PM
@M.A.R. but you can live with the good memories you already have

I didn't know about that show till now

@M.A.R. there was a flop film too

Well thank God we're quoting flops and shitty teenage fanfic now.

@M.A.R. ohh about blood, thanks google
@M.A.R. 76% on rotten tomatoes , not bad for a teen fantasy gener

6:22 PM
@AnkitSharma I didn't want to interrupt....
I am going to have a little anesthesia in a few days and I'm trying to explain to my friend that sometimes people react strangely to it.
I am sure I remember a TV show in the US about 15 or 20 years ago that lasted only a short time, and it took place in a recovery room. The plots were centered around doing strange things to people (interrogation or otherwise messing with the person waking up).
But I can find no trace of this when searching. I wonder if I imagined the show while I was under anesthesia? :-)

Q: Batman TAS: Were Batman's Cowling Eyes Actually White?

MissouriSpartanThe Animated Series had a seemingly legendary take on Batman. However, my main question is: Batman's cowling eye slits made it look like they are all white. As though they are some sort of covering? Or some sort of transparency to make him look scarier? Was this effect just for illustrative purp...
