A chairde - Morning all!
Quick question of the day - the abbreviation for "regular expression", should it be "regex" (pl. regexes) or "regexp" (pl. regexps)? I personally find "regexp" to be better phonetically and it is more "expressive" to my mind.
However Google disagrees with me (80m hits for regex vs. 43m for regexp) and my favourite regular expression site (or at least my least non-favourite site, pace @ypercubeᵀᴹ and Paul White :-) ) (regular-expression.info) uses "regex".
This is really a "how many angels can dance around the head of a pin" discussion, but I'd just like to hear some views... to while away a lazy Friday and to stop me from getting down to the onerous task of cleaning up the house...!

I use Regex. I associate exp with 'experience' more than 'expression'. But that's probably my gaming background

@mustaccio - explains the fact that there are more Google references to "regex" than to "regexp"! Thanks for that clarification. I'll use "regex" (pl. regexes) from here on in...

@Vérace-СлаваУкраїні I've never heard of regexp being used

@ypercubeᵀᴹ - what about REGEXP_REPLACE(), or REGEXP_SPLIT_TO_TABLE() - all of the PostgreSQL functions use REGEXP_...!

that shows how much I love and use it ;)

Indeed - Oracle does the same thing.
