A chairde - Morning all!

8:38 AM
It's official "back to the office" day today (+ College) in Ireland. Yaay (or maybe not...). We have ~ 87% of >= 12 fully vaccinated... radio interviewees have mixed feelings... not everybody back though... plus looks like there may be worker/boss tension on the horizon - many want 2-office/3-home whereas bosses want 3/2...

9:30 AM
@Vérace split the difference ;)
1 week-office/1-week-home

@Vérace We'd like 3 office / 2 home like some of the govt. depts. and we (ICT dept.) got 5/0.
How's that for tension?

@JohnK.N. 0 days from home? wow
I should not be complaining

10:09 AM
@ypercubeᵀᴹ I've got 3/2 starting on October

10:39 AM
@ypercubeᵀᴹ I should not be complaining. That's how it was when I started here.

Just listening to national radio (RTÉ) - lawyer on. Says that employers are completely free to ignore guidelines because they have no legal force...

But,... try finding a new DBA for a job and telling him: "Look, you earn less, have less holidays, work longer hours(42.5 hour weeks), have bi-weekly evening maintenance windows and quarter yearly weekend maintenance windows, and have FAFB than if you were to work for a private company"
Not much appeal.

Morning heap
Came in to a 750 GB log file and a completely unusable server. Can't truncate, last two VLFs are "in use" by... nothing.
Actually, might be able to use it - there's enough free space in the rows filegroup and it's not like the log is actually being used.

2:35 PM
...and log backup ran so out of the woods for now. Still need to figure out my deadlock situation - know it's occurring because of multipleAFTER INSERT triggers running updates against the same table HOWEVER, it happens even if one insert is running - even single threaded.
fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff I did this to myself

A: Error: Cannot Generate SSPI context

Racer SQLWe changed the SQL SERVICE user to one that is "Domain Admin". I've made some researches to know why this happens. It says that when you shutdown the service, you need an account with privileges do create a new SPN ( when it turns on again ). If you start a service without it, it will show in CA...

late to the conversation but a too good an example to not share
