Seems like Paul is enjoying the Christmas Holidays.

Morning
Looks like the functional links under question posts have a received a minor improvement overnight, and it's just capital

8:30 AM
@AndriyM I can't see any capital letters!

@ypercubeᵀᴹ Do you mean they still look all lower-case for you as before? Or do you mean you can't see them because you are fed up with them?

I can't see any change
is it in dba.se or SO?
@AndriyM are you referring to these? ^^

The last one is what it looks like now

ah, first letter capitalized. yes
I see the same. didn't notice it was different
we are moving from unix to Windows mindset ;)

I don't always notice changes like these either. But this time it somehow jumped at me

1 hour later…
9:57 AM
@AndriyM what?

@JohnK.N. The change of all lower-case links to capitalised links, as illustrated above. I noticed it today as soon as I opened the first question.

10:27 AM
Hmmm....

10:50 AM
Ah, I see
It's about the functional links under questions: share, edit, close etc. They used to be shown in lower-case, now they are capitalised.
Since today, I believe

11:24 AM
orribile (ital.); horrible (engl., french, span., ); uafásach (irish); жахливий (ukr.)

an interesting answer

A: Why did it take so long to notice that the ozone layer had holes in it? Which satellite provided the data?

David Hammen I believe the discovery was made by orbiting satellite, but I'm not sure which one. That is not the case. Look at the author affiliation for the article to which you linked. The three authors of that paper were from the British Antarctic Survey. These scientists were part of a larger expedition...

That's wild. "The data was thrown out. I was I who threw out the data."

we can blame the architect, not the code monkey ;)

Answering the question below, I found that this construct CAST(SUM(CASE
WHEN t1.data IS NOT NULL THEN 1
ELSE 0
END
) AS FLOAT) * 100 / COUNT(*) AS "% collected" works on MySQL 8 (5.7 run failed) but not on 5.6. Works on MariaDB 10.3, .4 & .5 and also on PostgreSQL (all versions AFAICS... any ideas as to why it won't work on 5.6 - any workarounds?

Q: EAV - COUNT()/SUM() on column and row values with and without NULLs

Richard JoostenAssume that there is a table demo with these data: id userID title data 1 1 DATE 01-01-2021 2 1 COLOR RED 3 2 DATE 4 2 COLOR YELLOW 5 3 DATE 04-01-2021 6 3 COLOR RED 5 4 DATE 04-01-2021 6 4 COLOR PINK 7 5 DATE 02-01-2021 8 5 COLOR PINK 7 6 DATE 08-01-2021 8 6 COLO...

Seems like v. simple stuff - a CAST and some basic arithmetic... puzzled?

Maybe try 1.0 and 0.0 and discard the CAST?

10:18 PM
@bbaird - thanks, that worked a treat! Guinness is on me next time you are in Dublin or I'm in Minnesota (?) or wherever your neck of the woods is in America!

@Vérace why this?
  SUM(CASE
      WHEN dt.c_date IS NOT NULL THEN 1
      ELSE 0
    END
   )
I mean why use SUM when you want to to count?
COUNT(dt.c_date)
works with the same exact result.
In Postgres and MySQL and Oracle and ... everywhere

@Vérace You probably wouldn't want to drink Minnesotan Guinness (or anybody else's except Dublin's for that matter)

And that ORDER BY 1 hurts my eyes ;)
Good answer nonetheless. Don't get offended by my late night comments ...
