@PaulWhite Toppen!
Any chance of some new SQLite version(s)? I was answering a question the other day which needed a newer version so had to run it locally.

@Colin'tHart Probably. You can ask Jack directly at topanswers.xyz/databases?room=2

Aah, sorry. For some reason I always get you two confused :-)

8:48 AM
We do look a lot alike

@Colin'tHart At the moment we are only installing versions that are packaged with a distro that does reliable security updates, like Debian and CentOS. Debian Buster has 3.27, and CentOS has 3.26, so there doesn't seem much point installing the latter. It looks like the next version of Debian will get frozen in about March 2021, so we could consider releasing after then but before the official stable release if that is helpful?
Otherwise if there is a yum or apt repo with later versions that gets security updates we could consider that too.

Morning all. So that was September? I must have blinked.

Welcome to Q4

Glad to be here.

jfc q4 already
I better actually do some work

Soon be Christmas

Actually I think the more pressing issue at this point is the second child due in 34 days

1:25 PM
Last Sunday, while doing the weekly shop, I notice the supermarket had puddings & mince pies in stock.

Sending presents overseas is going to require some extra planning this year

Don't get me wrong, I love a good mince pie, but BAH HUMBUG - IT'S SEPTEMBER!!
I'm thinking of changing my CV to this. What do y'all think?

@JackDouglas Makes sense.
@JackDouglas Didn't find one, not even a snap version.

1:55 PM
@bbaird Woo exciting. My sister's twins were born on Halloween which made for fun birthday parties.

2:28 PM
@MichaelGreen As I was reading it, the end was becoming increasingly obvious, more or less, and I still found it funny.

@AndriyM I don't get it.

A: PostgreSQL Error : server closed the connection unexpectedly

Pavel StehuleIt looks like broken data file or broken indexes. If this problem grows, then it can shows some deep system problems - problems with hw (memory, CPU), os (antivirus)... Try to use a commands executed from command prompt for database access repairing a) reindexdb - refresh all indexes, b) pg_dump ...

there's no way that accepted answer is correct, right?
that question has 46k views and it makes me sad

@MichaelGreen I think we'll be close enough to halloween for that to be a theme each year

3:09 PM
@PaulWhite I mean, it's simple humour, and in this case I somehow found it very entertaining.

I have a site where they cannot get to SSRS from any machine on the network. It prompts for authentication several times and then they just get a blank screen. Went through a bunch of articles but nothing we have tried appears to make any difference.

6:50 PM
@CadeRoux have you googled "kerberos double hop" at any point in your debugging so far?

7:01 PM
Yes, does that factor into the main screen? None of the reports pass through credentials, they all use credentials in a data source.
If it's Kerberos issues, do we need to try that Kerberos Configuration Manager? And what are we looking for? microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39046
And SSRS is on the DB server.
And machine was already in trusted sites

8:00 PM
@CadeRoux double hop can still be a factor in that setup - I had it a few years ago. But was setup and debugged by my senior sadly

@PeterVandivier thanks, it's just this one customer, it should be the same as all other customer sites

8:23 PM
Might not be my thing, just figured I’d suggest it in case you hadn’t thought about that yet. Good luck!!

@AndriyM My issue is I just don't see the humour in it. I feel like I am missing something very obvious.
SQL Server 2019 CU8 is out including the fix for the issue that pulled CU7

9:09 PM
@PaulWhite Probably because you're a moderator. Or may be it is why you are a moderator. Who can tell...

@mustaccio Fair point.

To be honest, I don't see the humour in that strip either. Should I nominate myself as a mod?

Well you picked a good time to ask that question

9:56 PM
My introduction post will be very short

@PeterVandivier I think I ruled out Kerberos, it seems like the SPNs are all fine. The (local, with stored credentials) data source tests fine and reports run fine on the server.
But it's definitely authentication related
On the server, I tried Invoke-WebRequest -Credential on the same URL that's working in IE and I get a 401.
Wait, I may need some more flags
So on the server, -Credential does not work, but -UseDefaultCredentials does work (that version of Powershell does not have -Authentication)
On the remote "workstation" (another server, I am remoted into with the same credentials) -UseDefaultCredentials does not work. So definitely something in the auth somewhere.
