Fair enough, I was willing to drop the CTAS argument. I think it should be the standard, but I believe you know why i think that and if you're unconvinced I'm quite sure I can't sell that one further.
I also think I should be able to downvote questions that refuse them, because of the form, and comment on those questions with why I'm downvoting. And, that too was deleted.
As if constructive criticism on the question and explaining a downvote violates not nice or something.
Generally, I only have a slight preference for CTAS over CREATE TABLE / INSERT INTO. As in, I don't really care. I would never rewrite CREATE TABLE/INSERT INTO as a CTAS. I do have preference for not using rextester or sqlfiddle because I've seen a lot of those services die off and take their data with them causing hard core link rot (rafb.net and erxz.com come to mind).
Yea, but certainly the mods don't have to act on a flag just because the person asking the question doesn't like what is being said (the criticism).

YP thinks that perhaps pg_basebackup is being super pedantic about there being an empty data directory, decides to remove the directory. After a second or two he notices he ran it on db1.cluster.gitlab.com, instead of db2.cluster.gitlab.com
It's also a mix. In some points I can't figure what "backups" means in a specific sentence. (LVM snapshots, pg_dump, pg_basebackup, S3 backup, Azure disk snapshot)
It also seems that they are not taking pg basebackups or backing up WAL files. If they did, they could replay from the latest pg_basebackup
@TomV SSRS has something of a Jekyll and Hyde aspect. Some SSRS questions are 'how do I get it to do a section break?' Some SSRS issues are more like 'take days of troubleshooting to figure out why it's shat itself and stopped working.'
It's quite good at generating obtuse 'why doesn't this work now?' type issues.
@ConcernedOfTunbridgeWells Yeah I can't quite put my finger on it, I have a love/hate relationship with the thing. Sometimes you can do really neat tricks if you understand some of the mindset, but then something really simple makes you go "wtf is this so hard"
@EvanCarroll yes, but its not required to be rude when doing so. Perhaps just check what your going to say to see if meets the "be nice" requirement before pressing "Enter". By the way, it wasn't me who deleted either (I don't have that authoritah)
Who wants to help me rubber duck a Heisenbug? SSIS package grabs an archive from an FTP server and runs 7zip using "Execute Process Task". It succeeds in both our QA and UAT environments, fails in Staging and prod. The only info I have is "Process exit code was 2 when the expected was 0". 7zip exit code 2 just means "fatal error". The package worked fine last month and I don't know of anything that's changed in the meantime.
I guess it depends on what exactly is causing the out of memory error. But it seems like BitConverter is having the issue with some length of string, and would happen regardless of source (might just hit a different threshold depending on source, Unicode or not, etc).
Let's chat after April 1st and you can tell me about the event - crowd size, how vendors fared, etc. It's way too late for this year but maybe someday I can convince my boss to send me
@Lamak I will mention it, but most of my capacity is fighting to go. Due to our PASS partnership most of our SQL Saturday sponsorship is already distributed that way.
(We pay the annual global alliance partner thing, and a portion of that is allocated to the SQL Saturday portfolio in general.)

@TomV when the task is run. I'm (manually) walking through an SSIS package that is randomly failing and trying to isolate failure points. When I execute the command manually from the command line (it's 7z.exe fwiw) the command fails when I try to run the command that I think SSIS would be running.
Well I know it runs and I know it returns an error code. It's just that the error code is not super helpful. There's also some question as to whether the error is coming from 7z or from the win32 wrapper

Local, QA, UAT -> succeeds. Staging -> fails sometimes. Prod -> always fails. This worked last month when the package ran. Nothing (that I know of) has changed.
(and make sure the SSIS account/proxy account has write access there)
Random guesses would be, for your issue, the proxy account has security restrictions in prod, UAC maybe, a race condition only sometimes occuring in staging and often in prod, but it's hard to tell with no error messages

@mikeTheLiar You might also get some mileage by defining variables and mapping them to the StandardOut and StandardError streams from Execute Task and then popping that out to whatever logger
