@Charlieface It's all actually .NET objects, just created and methods invoked in Powershell so that it can be one script that can be tweaked on site as necessary.

Man, I h8 the HOLDLOCK hint synonym for SERIALIZABLE.
3:01 AM
@PaulWhite it's sort of like unalived being a synonym for killed
If it needed to exist at all, it would be a synonym for REPEATABLEREAD
repeatable read is nearly as useless as read committed
also ran isolation levels
REALPETEALBREAD
i want some realpeatydrinks
they don't lead to isolation at all, no they don't
though perhaps they do sometimes; depends on the repetition count i guess
3:08 AM
hah
they don't start off that way
i wonder if paul has linked his phone yet
speaking of isolation levels
3:55 AM
no!
@ErikDarling Well, it's useful for demos where you want to hold a lock

My pattern turns into an immortal frog here - you have to squint a bit, but it's really cool (and no, I haven't consumed psychodelics this morning...)!
So is it a leftover from yesterday's psychedelics?
:-)
I wish!

hey look it's a post about not posting with a promise to post more.

i think the music one is a little off (singles have existed for ages), but yeah all the scrolly swipey stuff seems accurate
yep, posted for the vibe, not necessarily all the details
quite a clever observation though, I thought
it was the sport one that pulled me in
i do enjoy writing letters
wish more people liked exchanging them
indeed
most of the time you write a letter and someone emails to say they got it
or worse, tag you in a photo of it on some social media
one rarely even receives an email that could have been a letter
i.e. the sort of letter people used to thoughtfully compose
choose the right paper & pen, best handwriting, nice envelope & stamp
content worth reading more than once
I suppose people had more time back then
The music point, as I took it anyway, is that people rarely listen to whole albums
Yes, singles were a thing, but it involved more conscious effort than playing individual tracks from a library of albums stored on some digital device
'people' at large, excluding present company
other people
2:08 PM
oh sure
gelly roll pens are great for letter writing
really tough to find a really good pen
even the gel ones aren't created equally
fountain pens were high risk/reward
I wonder how many people would even recognise blotting paper
I'm not about to suggest farming your own geese to produce the perfect quill
But a really nice manual pen is a beautiful thing
Time was when people would admire the pen clipped in your top pocket as they boarded an aircraft
I remember being quite fond of an ink cartridge pen I had once, particularly with jet black ink
Of course, I lost it
2:29 PM
@PaulWhite Should be called "The fall of attention span" instead

@PaulWhite they are. i wish i wrote enough to invest in one. i'd feel bad for how much it'd sit around idle.
perhaps when i get hit by the lottery i'll finally take a calligraphy course

It's probably bad that I use the Pilot Frixion erasable gel pens and the Rocketbook pads and notebooks and end up erasing everything in the notepad eventually...
7:03 PM
i'm not entirely sure what that sentence means
but it sounds bad?

It's just I have a pen, but never keep anything I've written because the paper is always re-used
