so my mail server has been running a little slowly today, and the server fans are whirring excessively. Turns out the Windows Server Update Services database ran out of space early this morning and started spamming me with SEV017 errors. There are a lot of those emails in my inbox now. As in over 430,000 lol.
perhaps I should put a limit on how many messages my mailbox can receive over a set period of time
perhaps

My Wordle grid for yesterday
In some ways, telling a topical story with Wordle is better than a frog
@ErikReasonableRatesDarling How did your session go?
@PaulWhite better than usual, probably thanks to the tech review.
@ErikReasonableRatesDarling did you run short of time or was that not an issue in the end?
Funny story, it was a 75 minute session and not a 60 minute session. It was perfectly timed.
I landed right on the 00
No one asked about write conflicts which probably explains it
05:38
Sweet
Adam M showed up and we had drinks with Itzik after. It was like 10 years ago Erik had a fever dream.
Oh that's really cool
There’s a rumor going around that someone is sick of Postgres and will be returning to Holy Mother SQL Server
Sounds flighty
Suppose a 10 year hiatus will make the grass greener
05:41
Luckily, not much has changed in SQL Server
Well, there's been the odd thing
It will be easy to find new things to complain about
Oh @mustaccio was there too
😃
Very well dressed for a mustache
That’s the only picture I got of him
Snatch?
Good eye, good eye

Fantastic movie
it certainly is.
looks like Republicans will have majority in the House as well as Senate, along with Republican Supreme Court.
Not a good time for minorities
Next thing you know they’ll have control of Canada
Yeah, we'll likely have an election before spring where the Conservatives will win federally.
06:20
@HannahVernon Still pretty tough to pass laws while the filibuster exists in the Senate. Also, it's not a bloc vote and individual members always seem to disagree on everything
Not that passing laws has been much in vogue these past years anyway
I don't suppose many people can remember a functional US govt
06:55
All the most reason to disband the whole thing
Salt the earth
07:40
Perhaps one could argue a dysfunctional govt does no harm and the alternative might be worse
I mean, imagine what a functional govt might do
One could try anarchy I guess

@Zikato Yes. Meme-watching.
@PaulWhite There is a very deep meaning. The pilot is solution orientated (all objects fit into the same hole) whereas the engineer sometimes can't think outside of the box (That shape must go into the designed hole)
It's possible to take these things too seriously
Maybe some people are excited about flying with a pilot who can disregard norms and conventions and instead look for creative and novel solutions on the fly, as it were
It's silly anyway. Most engineers I have known would appreciate the irony of all shapes fitting through the one square hole
There's little space for such nuance in modern discourse, so it's probably irrelevant
Just treat 'engineers' and 'pilots' as two homogenous and entirely separate groups
Yup, it's a bad design. Every version of this toy I've seen the other shapes couldn't fit in the wrong holes
of course, but then the funny video could not have been made
08:19
And I appreciate that
I'm only pursuing this in the spirit of JEAGL btw
Another couple of pages of transcript ought to do it
no no, let's not rush things. I think this deserves another 4 hours of discussion
I am quietly confident the room will not disappoint
There are no doubt many unexplored angles
Greater insights to be gleaned
yes, where is the star shape for example

@JoshDarnell is right
13:58
I was hoping that would turn out well on the star board.
It has the double value of giving @Zikato warms fuzzies in the main chat window.
14:16
What's warm fuzzies? Is that a virus?
14:34
@PaulWhite true anarchy is probably best
14:46
@ErikReasonableRatesDarling Watching Erik in action was a true joy. I didn't understand a thing but was still immensely entertained.

I think I can say we're all better off for knowing Erik.
