Q: Methods for finding new Trace Flags in SQL Server

sp_BlitzErikThere are a lot of Trace Flags out there. Some are well-documented, some are not, and others found their way to default behavior status in the 2016 release. Aside from official support channels, Microsoft employees, etc., what are ways to find new trace flags? I've read through a couple recent p...

Q: Protect postgres database from slow queries

caseymI'm running a Django web site on Heroku, with the database hosted on RDS. There are some queries out there that take 10 to 15 seconds. Yesterday I got a lot of those and it overwhelmed the database. Write IOPS went above 700, CPU went to 90%, and connections went to 0. I'm upgrading the database ...

Q: How do I detach all other users from a postgres database?

mitI need exclusive access to a database. Is it possible using an SQL command to "detach" all other users from a postgres database. Or maybe closing all other connections and then gaining exclusive access. This is for unit testing, and tests are only run manually, so there is no danger involved. On...

Your humour really missed the mark with me this morning

my bad I'm just playing, I just think this can be done a different way

I'm not saying that those are bad ways, they are ways and they're totally functional and I've used brute force discovery on this very site. It's very much functional. However, it's not the only way, certainly. And, it's not the best way.
Maybe that joke went too far, my bad. Didn't see that.

Well I'm not going to cancel the bounty. It is what it is.
Going to get coffee. Back in a bit.

If you want to cancel it I'll remove the statement and repost the bounty, and be totally cool with it.
Didn't mean to offend, sometimes I play too hard.

Hm Ok maybe that would be best. Done. Try again.

That really should have said some of those statements are outright wrong, that was too strong.
Cool, hopefully that's better.
Btw, I was mainly addressing this "There's nothing you can do to find the list except ask or pick them up from posts/slide decks/etc"
@PaulWhite we still best friends?
PAUL?!?!????
PAULLLLLLLL???????????????????????????????????

Sure. (coffee acquired)

all hail the nectar of the gods.
I never heard of the liveoverflow channel on youtube
What an amazing resource.
I learned Scheme watching videos from MIT when they first went public with their open coursewear. It's amazing how much inefficient the formal instruction is. You go back and you watch that stuff, and you just think about how much instruction time is wasted with the professor writing on the blackboard, you watch these kinds of polished videos on youtubes without that inefficiency and at 2x speed -- probably do a month of work in a 5 days.

@PaulWhite press 1 if you are under nda about froid :)
