10 more down votes this morning. I guess it's a good Sunday morning pastime or something

Guys I'm stuck in update table from a CTE
A CTE must be followed by a single SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, or DELETE statement that references some or all the CTE columns. A CTE can also be specified in a CREATE VIEW statement as part of the defining SELECT statement of the view.
In my case I'm trying to update all BadDesign table rows with the value from the Total CTE

12:21 PM
LOL

@Sami You are missing several +
Do you want to update all rows with the same value?

It was the "+" missing
Yeah

Some more silly question from SO, I guess?

But it's bad idea too, while the numbers can be > 9 it won't work

Not to mention if the numbers have more than 1 digit

12:33 PM
Yeah, I was working on it
I don't know why those guys storing number like this?
and also with varchar
It's bad to store numbers like this, can you shaow us the expected results? — Sami 2 hours ago
There is two (2) good answers to this question, I just trying to learn from those situations

The best thing to learn from these situations is how to avoid them ;)

@ypercubeᵀᴹ LOL yes ;)
But also I should know how to deal with when I face them
I love SQL Server
I don't understand all of it, but I like it :)

?

@PaulWhite yes

@bluefeet Well I know I've been busy with non-site stuff recently, but how did I miss that
Also, what's SRE?

@PaulWhite I never outright announced it in here. SRE = Site Reliability Engineer team

@bluefeet Thanks. Yeah I meant missing it in the other place

1:54 PM
@PaulWhite it's been a bit busy in there

@bluefeet I haven't even tried to read back yet :)

@PaulWhite takes too long

@bluefeet So you've been promoted, away from users, and into sysadmin SQL Server access!
I imagine DBA-style work at SO might be quite interesting

@PaulWhite Yeah. I'm supposed to know what I'm doing now.

TRUNCATE TABLE dbo.Comments job done

@bluefeet Well that's exciting isn't it.

1:56 PM
@PaulWhite haha, if only that were the worst one

Well sincere congrats anyway. Seems like unqualified good news to me.

@PaulWhite and am bit terrifying. I've been out of the loop for a while with it, so there is a steep learning curve - or refresher curve

@bluefeet Of course. Anything worth doing has to be at least slightly scary.

@PaulWhite Thanks, I appreciate that. I'll have lots of dumb questions to ask :P
@PaulWhite exactly!
With all the Channels stuff in the works, it's going to be interesting

I'm sure it will.
@bluefeet And a diamond on every site - that's new isn't it?

2:02 PM
@PaulWhite All CMs have that. I'm just keeping mine

@bluefeet Oh do they? I had not noticed that before. Thought it was a privileged dev thing.
I don't stalk your profile enough, clearly

@PaulWhite yeah, first day as a CM - join every site so you can get diamonds everywhere
@PaulWhite how dare you not stalk me???? :P

Long list of stalkees I'm afraid

That happens when you're a mod

@PaulWhite if you download the stack overflow database you can have the pleasure of truncating all of the comments

@bluefeet WOOHOO CONGRATULATIONS

@sp_BlitzErik thx!

@PaulWhite did you change shampoo recently? Your hair looks different.

@PaulWhite I figured out what i like about the other device
It's the smooth taste of higher vg liquid and the absence of throat irritation

9:35 PM
@sp_BlitzErik You still looking at that function CE thing?

@JoeObbish vaguely. Why?

I thought I had a few ideas. Do you have such a function that works in 2012?

@JoeObbish digging it up.

Anyone here got anything to say about qubes?

@bluefeet Luckily I know a helpful & supportive Q & A site for technical DB questions.

I'll look out the link for you.
