@HDE226868 it feels like the kind of question that really can't be answered flippantly. The OP has already done a ton of research and calculations. If you don't bring at least that much work, your answer isn't helpful. It'd be nice if they showed their work so other could build on it.
@Shalvenay hey!

@Green Yeah, I agree. I very much admire their efforts.

@HDE226868 It reminds me of a question I asked a long time ago. The answer was conceptually simple but to answer accurately required lots of computation fluid dynamics+gravity+material strain and a bunch of other things. I don't remember that anyone answered it.
Never mind. There was one answer is it was yours. worldbuilding.stackexchange.com/questions/21438/…

Am I allowed to ask a question that asks for the results of something in two separate scenarios, or do I have to split it into two questions?
Basically my question revolves around an event that renders it impossible to be conscious while the sun isn't up in the part of the world you're in. The second sundown is over, you fall asleep until sunrise.
And I'm wondering if I'm allowed to ask one question about what the damage would be like in places where it's already night when this starts, compared to the places where sunset is more than 5 hours away.
I'm positive tons of people will die in the former, though knowing the scale would be important. But I'm hoping the latter can manage pretty comfortably for a week of this.

@JasonClyde Are they aware it's happening?
As in, when in the 5 hours do they become aware.

I imagine within the first hour, reports would come in of people going unconscious on the other side of the world, and people waking up just as the sun rises

@JasonClyde Reports form who? Everyone close enough to observe it would fall asleep before they can report. Sure we'd notice something fishy hen one side of the world suddenly wen't quiet but I suspect it would take a while to 100% pin down what was happening.

@Bellerophon TV channels and streams don't spontaneously stop broadcasting just because the people running them fall asleep

True.

@Green Oh, yeah, I forgot about that one!

Anyone know a good reference site for traps/puzzles for dnd?
I am setting up a haunted temple scenario...three challenges. Challenge of Faith, Flame and Wisdom
or something like that.

@AndyD273 Oh don't even get me started lol

This was interesting, but not surprising

He just officially qualified for the December debate.
like...in the last 30 minutes.

I guess they figured his minute and a half of allowed talk time wouldn't really distract from their chosen ones.

8:25 PM
lol
Did you know he was on the national debate team?

@James So this might sound like a criticism, but it really isn't; He really needs to get some boldness and make sure that he gets to talk. I was listening to someone talk about the first debate, where Yang said his mic was muted, and the commenter said "Hey, if they tried that with Trump, Trump would just grab someone else's mic and start talking until they fixed his."

@AndyD273 Hey, sup?

8:54 PM
@AndyD273 He could be a bit more assertive yeah...we will see how the Dec discussion goes with a slightly smaller group.
Although after the first debate he freaking nailed it when someone asked him how difficult it was or something like that his response was, "Well it was a lot easier when I realized it wasn't actually a debate."

@JasonClyde Hey Jason

@AndyD273 How are things?

@JasonClyde pretty good. Getting to learn how to use the laser for wood engraving/cutting. It's pretty neat

Wow, that's cool
I'm finishing up work

me too

9:05 PM
Got a question I'm going to ask probably sometime tomorrow.
Well more like two questions, about the same scenario in two separate contexts.

The falling asleep at night one?

Yeah
The Curfew Rune for short

I predict a huge push for automation very quickly in your world

9:24 PM
@AndyD273 Likely. My initial plan was to let the world off easy with the first "Trial rune", but then I thought it would be interesting to cause a crisis on the other side of the world from the heroes, so I'm interested in figuring out what kind of damage this would do and if it's too much for my story.

I think that it really could go a couple different ways. Like, if you wanted to do some kind of small apocalypse that sets a portion of the world back a lot then that could be good, sort of as a way to reset the clock.
There is a part in the book Freedomâ„¢ where a group plans on using a huge social disruption event as a way to make it possible for them to start a new ruling order. "If everyone is affected for at little as 72 hours, studies show that they are way more likely to be willing to accept totalitarian rule."

9:53 PM
@AndyD273 That is a disturbingly small window of time.
Hell that might be a good way to give my "prophet" character a foothold.
There's a guy who knows what runes are coming as his special power, and he uses it to pretend to be a prophet of his new religion.
