That would be an amazing community project, to be honest - kinda like how other sites have solved open problems in math or science. Worldbuilding solves the open of problem of how to teleport people. . .

I was thinking about that...

If you take people apart atom by atom, you can store the information somehow, beam it to somewhere else, and 3d print them.

Of course, you can then 3d print multiple versions.

The tricky part is taking them apart layer by layer and having good data.

Because of the pain and death involved after certain points :P

Personally, I'm looking for funding to research either macrosize wormholes or how to edit the position data for an object in the simulation. The idea of having to die every time I want to commute to work isn't exactly what I want

If you can figure out macro wormholes, you can essentially create simulated FTL travel, where something is at point A, then A and B, then B, without going through the space in between.

Huh, so I just looked up the dictionary definition of teleportation, and according to them it is "to transport something by telekinesis"... that seems like a very weird definition

I feel like the disintegrate-remake method requires some form of stasis, so that there are no inflight processes getting all garbled and messed up.

@James You'd have to have some kind of singularity type event, to digitize the mind and avoid interrupting stream of consciousness.

And that might be the way to do it; synthetic bodies you transfer your mind into somewhere else in the world. Kind of a Ghost in the Shell future.

@James I was talking to middle child last night, and she said she'd like to go multiple (one mind, many bodies) so she can go swimming and watch tv at the same time. I asked her how many bodies she'd need to get her room clean; "one thousand"

I think I'd try out Neurolink at some point in the future. Maybe V3 or V4...

Especially if it involves having a robot put lots of super fine wires into your brain
