hey there @JourneymanGeek

how're things going?

same ol same ol

12:38 AM
alright here
say, I've been wondering how to keep track of maps for one's world -- a GIS tool seems just ever-so-slightly hard to apply to the task, but it also would be awesome to pull off

And I've just discovered that recommendation questions aren't actually off-topic here :o

@Mithrandir24601 We do! I always look forward to seeing good ones.

@HDE226868 I just came across a new one, commented that I thought it was off-topic, actually looked into old meta posts, discovered that it wasn't off topic, so had to go back and say that it wasn't off-topic but what they were asking seemed to be too broad... worldbuilding.stackexchange.com/q/71589/19951

speaking of map tooling -- what do you folks recommend for mapping your world? is GIS worthwhile to look into, or is it overkill for what we do as worldbuilders?
(if you want an idea, think of an isle the size of Gran Canaria for detailed views)

Q: What could make a star green?

ZxyrraStars are never green. When a star's spectra "peaks" in the green range, it also releases a significant number of waves of the adjacent colors - so "green" stars appear yellow or white. I want a green star anyways. How can such a star come about if they do not exist that way in nature (as f...

@Zxyrra I'm kind of confused - fair enough if you want more/better answers, but if you're not happy with the answers you've already got, why have you accepted one?

4:46 PM
@Zxyrra seeing that the most-upvoted answer is by HDE and the second most-upvoted answer mentions Phil Plait I do not see how I would even start trying to answer hat question any better. Asides from the fact that 50 rep isn't really that much of a motivator

See the bounty reason
The answers I have are great but I'm interested in more diverse solutions as well
50 is a start but I'm probably going to set another seeing as it didn't work too well

Make it 500 and you're very likely to get your diversity

@Zxyrra You have nine answers, one of which has 85 upvotes and is accepted - to be honest, I don't think you're going to get any more (unless, as @dot_Sp0T says you whack the bounty up considerably)

5:24 PM
@dot_Sp0T I've been mentioned in the same sentence as Phil Plait. My work here is done.

Q: On Hold is turning up quite quickly

Paul TIKIOk, I'm fairly new to WorldBuilding SE and I'm having a ball taking a broad swath of questions and seeing if I can generate a logical answer consistent with the world. I do this because the mental exercise helps in my real-world job and also in my efforts to tell good stories in RPGs. I have no...
